Where to stay at Halfway

There is a FABULOUS lodge in Halfway called the Pine Valley Lodge!! I have free lodging in Halfway, but always stay at PVL. Soooo comfy and the staff is AMAZING!!

But...your other options are:

Halfway Motel - it's right in town.
Wild Rose Vacation Home - Out of town.
Clear Creek Farm Bed & Breakfast - Out of town.
Stockmans Bar - in town, rooms above the bar/resturant

Sumpter is approx 35 miles west of Baker City on HWY 7.

Lodging in Halfway here are a few in town options/places I usually stay.

Pine Valley Lodge 742-2027

Halfway Motel/RV Park 742-5722

Stockmans 742-2301

I usually stay at Stockmans just because it is close and easy and the cheaper option- it is above the bar restaurant. Shared living/ bathroom with private bedrooms. There are two shared Bathrooms and I think like 12 rooms "don't quote me on the number" Also there is a variety of bed arrangements in each room. Oregon Girl pretty well summed up PVL and it is a really nice place to stay. The motel is also really nice!!

BMSG may know of a place to stay, out of town, that you can ride from. Otherwise, no riding from the locations noted by PCG and myself.

There is lodging in Sumpter that you can ride directly from. In fact, they have snowmobile signs right in town! ;)

I know this thread is about Halfway but you asked about Sumpter as well.

Sumpter is a fun little town about 27 miles south of Baker City that is very family oriented. There are two places to stay...

One is the Depot Inn, the trail system pretty much starts at their front door so you don't have to trailer anywhere.

The other is the Scoop N Steamer Cabins just down the street. You can ride from here as well but parking is a little tight. These cabins have small frigs, microwaves and toaster ovens. If the restaurant is open they have the best food.

There is a gas station/grocery store at the end of the road. Another place to eat is the Elkhorn, they serve burgers and breakfast.

They groom this area all the time and there are some pretty fun areas to ride. The trail system is vast.

Here is a link to the town...

Sumpter is more trails and play areas, nice trail system with scenic views. Halfway has trails but also some very challenging areas including steep climbs. Pine Vally Motel is very nice, another option is Cornacopia Lodge and Cabins. Not a bad price which includes all meals and you can snowmobile out the front door.

The only place to stay in Halfway is the Halfway INN. They were very nice. It was across the street from the gas station around the corner from the store and the bars, Both of the bars in town serve great food and they were very friendly. It is only a 6 miles from the snow park. Went this week and the snow was very deep and great for riding. Just my 2 cents.

Halfway accomodations

I stayed in a cabin near snowpark might have been white fir? Roberta Bryan was the contact at an antique store in halfway, super people, nice place, sleeps a bunch and full laundry etc. plenty of parking. will stay there again! Riding is good as well. If you only stay a few days you wont run out of play areas, not sure about a week as we rode only 2 days. Good luck

Yeah, that was the White Fir. We stay there once a month and have never been dissapointed! Great people:) Near the snow park though? We ride right out of Rberta & Jerry's cabin. I thought the snow-park was a ways away.
