Where to ride near Spokane/Coeur d'Alene

I am from Spokane WA and am looking for a close place to mountain ride. I have heard that Mt. Spokane isn't worth even trying anymore and I have been to Priest Lake but I am looking for something closer. Mainly we boondock and only use the trails to get high enough to do this. I'm not opposed to riding in Idaho, and I have heard that Fourth of July Pass is pretty good. Where is a good place to ride and how far from Spokane is it? (directions would be nice to)

try calispell mountain near chewelah. not too far from spokane, and some great boondocking.

Priest lake is some kicka$$ riding. You can climb all day or boondock. Great trails and scenery also. Its my favorite riding location.
