My wife and I really want to move west from Minnesota in the next few years. Our decision on where to live will depend on work. She is a paralegal and I am an equipment operator/ road construction worker. We have 2 young kids. We are not set on certain state but were thinking western montana/wyoming/Colorado. Sledding is really important to me but am willing to drive couple hours. What do you guys think is a good spot to look into. Thanks

My wife and I are in the same spot. We live in the Twin Cities and are considering moving to Denver. I'm a moldmaker and she's a dental Hygienist so we need to be in a larger city for me to find a job along the lines of what I currently do. We're thinking in about 4-5 years that we may seriously consider doing it. We just want to pay our house off first (4 1/2 years to go) and rent it out while we give it an honest shot for a year or two in another city. And, then maybe rent a house or townhome in Denver so we don't have to worry about re-selling if we don't like it and decide to move back.

I hear ya. Its prob 2-3 years out for us. We were talking about Denver or fort collins area also

sw colorado is an awesome place to live.if you can afford to buy something outside of town, the riding is great.i was an equipment operator in durango for 8 years and you cannot depend on steady work anymore.i quit that trade and manage a ranch now and do ok but construction is a tuff gig in these parts.the only way i could run iron now and live comfortbly wud be on the road.goodluck.the west is the best!!!!!

Is Bozeman MT area pretty good for finding work? I've never been to this area but ivheard its great. I'm leaning more towards bigger towns so my wife can be my sugar mama. I'm not being arrogant at all but I can find work doing many different things. Road work/concrete/block work/ranch or farm

Bozeman is a great town. We lived there for 5 years and my wife asks me why we left every day...Housing right now is realativly cheap compared to around 2006, it is starting to pick back up though. If you like construction/building your in the right town, just might take a while to find a good crew to work for. Everyone who swings a hammer for a couple months seems to start their own company up. Lots of good sledding, starting to be lots of sledders too though. Decent hunting too.

Sounds awesome. I've never done the house construction mainly road construction/equipment operator. But I've done concrete work and asphalt paving the lsst 4 years. I think Bozeman would be awesome

Once you go you will never go back. its a great place i would be there if things were a bit more mobile for me you should have no trouble finding a job there.
Billings is an option as well bit bigger not as nice as bozeman but its a lot closer to mountains than minn.

Bozeman is terrible; greenies trying to shut everything down, Californians moving in and trying to change things. I'd stay away! lol

Come on guys I sense a smidge of sarcasm. Kidding. If hippies and greenies are getting thatbad why do you still reside?
