Where To Get Electric Helmet Shield Power ....

Where would be the best place to get power on my 2010 600 IQ for my HJC electric helmet shield ?

On TOP of the belt guard at the rear (close to where your knee would be if you were sitting all the way forward) there's a 6 prong plug with nothing plugged into it.

The end one that 's bright red with a white stripe on it is the Hot lead.

Use a male spade connector and cut it approx in 1/2 with side cutters and it will plug in.

So you are just letting the plug end dangle around outside of the sled ? Is there a way to mount a plugin connection/socket right to the dash ?

No.

I run the wire up to just in front of the steering column and I drilled a 1/2" hole there and mounted an RCA jack there and plug the helmet cord into that.

(actually in my case heated hand-grips on the mountain bar that my 7 year old hangs onto to when I take her ridin')

Now, obviously you can mount that wherever it works best for you.

I can post pics if need be

Sure if you find time :)

There is also an accessory power located right next to the steering column in the bundle of wires that is right under the cowling.

It looks like a plug that you would use for hand warmers, but is just a power/ ground combo that is extra.

Those are cool for the little one's. Do they velcro on ? What brand are they?

Yes they VELCRO on, OXFORD is the brand, got 'em on-line a while back on line, but can't remember where from

I do remember they were intended for motorcycles if that helps

Dave,

That's the ones.

I ended up cutting off the rheostat and attaching the RCA jack end for E-Z on / off.

Here's some pics of another alternative I'm doing to accommodate my (7) year old when she rides with me, and she's not ridin' her PINK Dragon up to her cabin in the woods.

This bracket I made attaches to the steering post with only (1) large 5/8" diameter 4 1/2" long bolt for E-Z on / off.

Then bolt the STOCK POLARIS handlebar hold-down to the home-made bracket.

Then I'm planning on shortening up a set of handlebars (didn't get to that part yet) along with a regular set of HOT grips with the spray-foam inside the bar ends.

She says that her wrists are "twisted" in an awkward manner holding onto the mountain bar after extended rides, so I thought this would work out better.
