Where is the Govenor on Polaris 120

So looking to bypass the governor on my kids 09 120 but not sure where it is. I'm not positive it hasn't already been bypassed as I heard they really surge at idle when not using correct governor spring. His really surges at idle.

If you really want to remove the governor, pull the engine and take the sideplate off. The governor is the plastic gear inside, pull that off and reassemble. With a good set of valve springs you can get those engines cranking over 7,000 rpm. Otherwise visit rec motors website as they will have the correct spring you are looking for.
