where is the best riding?

where in BC is the riding best on average?
i like pow, boondocking in the trees and hillclimbing so where would the season be "best"?
preferably a place with long seasons, lots of snow and not too windy cause i don't like packed snow..

any ideas?

yeah, i kinda figured BC is all good :)

but, after checking it out on Google Earth, holy poo that's a HUGE place. and i would appreciate some pointers of where the really good places are...

i have heard nothing but good things about Stewart, but it's quite remote and i would guess hard to get a job for a year there...

you see, i got this idea that it would be a good move to go to BC for a year or so to get to the really good riding..
i know there's a lot of good riding in the US too but it's practically impossible to get work permits there and it appears easy to get a one year permit in Canada.

just checking out my options... :)

I'd say that basing your self out of revelstoke would lead to the winter of your life, if your gonna be here for a whole year, sicamous or salmon arm(just west of revy) provide good times in the summer(on the lake) and are only a hop skip and jump away from revy and killer local arera's.
good luck

Revy is a good place to consider. I live in Salmon Arm and it really is a great year around place to be. Kind of in the middle of alot of areas. As far as sledding, it's awesome! A bit over a hour to Revy, 20 min. to Sicimous, 20 min. to Hunters range, 1 min. to fly hills, 20 min. to crowfoot mt.

Revy always has huge snow. I put in 30 rides there last year and always had fresh snow and a ton of it.

i've heard that Revy is the place to be, but that it's getting crowded there...

how big are the other places mentioned here? Whistler, salmon arm, sicamous?
i don't need the night life but it's nice to meet people from time to time :D

i will do some reading about the places mentioned thou.
thanks for the tips :)

done some reading now :)
it seems that Salmon Arm is the bigger of the places mentioned here?

how are the laws and regulations about snowmobiling in BC in general? pretty unrestricted?

B.C. laws are still pretty unrestricted. Insurance is a option, also license is a option. Buy something with a track on it and ride with the exception of a D9 cat. You can't ride sleds in town, can't chase animals, can't track up fresh powder until the locals (like me!) first get to track it up. I'm sure this law was passed last week!) Albertan's don't know this yet! Oh, I forgot to mention. If you are a newbee to this province you are restricted to short track machines like 121 1" inch max lug. 600cc. So we might see you on the hill at about lunch time.... Bring a big lunch because us locals are required to feed the wild life first.(like the photo shows. So be prepared to share..... personally I like perogies, or hot spicy sausage...hmmm! bring lots please. Thanks. look forward to haven you out here.

some funny stuff there :D

i must have been very tired when i read that yesterday cause i was like, can't ride sleds in town OK, can't chase animals OK, can't track up fresh powder until the locals got to track it up OK..... uhm...can't track up fresh pow? and then my brain started again and i was laughing :D

i guess i gotta buy a huge barbeque for the sled if i ever get there so i can feed all the locals and the wildlife? fine...
;)

One very important thing that ArticDoo forgot to mention is that the locals require beer to wash down that bbq food with.....Just trying to help you fit in

Ha,ha! I wasn't thinking when I posted that! (must of been tired! lol) Hellclimber, I forgot the beer thing. Along with the barbecue just pick up a 200 liter barrel of beer. We just mount skis directly on the barrel, then attach the "quick clamp hitch" (same principle as the superclamps) then hitch to your sled and "walla"! We could bend the rules abit and let you use a long track sled. This is a good way make alot of friends really quick.
When were you thinking of coming out here?

:D
well, i guess i could get a longtrack + a barrel :)

if i were to go there, it wouldn't be until next season anywho.. just checking out the possibilites over there for now.

there is incredible riding in almost every section of BC, what I might suggest is to find the best area to get a good job in your field of work, then take a look at the riding around there. What type of work would you be getting into?

Don't forget you have to register your sled in BC. I've only been through a road check once but if you cannot prove proof of ownership of the sled in your possession they can confiscate it until you can do so.
Salmon Arm is a beautiful little town. Close to Sicamous as well where the sledding is very good.

yeah, i guess that would be the smart thing to do :)
but i would like to get quick and easy access to the "hot spots".. i guess i should have a week sledding and checking out the areas in BC before deciding.. now that would have been cool :D

i guess i'll try to get a welding job since i have quite a few welding sertificates and we all like qualified personell :)

so, if you guys use, have used and remember any sites for jobs in BC, feel free to let me know :):beer;

the register your sled part was a bit confusing for me since i'm not familiar with the laws there.. i thought, if i were to buy a sled, it would be registered on me?
please fill me in on this.

yeah, i heard sledding is good in Sicamous and it's close to revy etc.
and after studying BC on Google Earth, i have a feeling there is a LOT of good riding basically anywhere :D
