The manual says its part number 0144-310 but I havnt been able to find it anywhere online. Is this part specific to Cat's or are these things fairly generic. I mean could I pick one up from a car parts store or something and it would have the same effect?

get a harmonic balancer puller for autos...about 20 bucks..remember not to screw the puller bolts any deeper then the thickness of flywheel face

They are metric, I just take a one to a hardware stort that has bulk bolts and get a few different lengths.
most harmonic puller kits have a variety of bolts...but get the right length from any industrial store or have a handful of flat washers for spacers
i agree on the harmonic balancer puller and most any puller with a yoke and metric hardware will work...dont know if you know but be careful when threading into the flywheel and dont go past the thickness of the fw...you can damage the stator ...pay attention or pay the price for new parts! good luck man
the puller that HPE sells bolts nicely flush onto the face of an m8 flywheel, if its a tought one, there's is great, about $35 if I recall.
Yeah got one from canadian tire for 20 bucks. And there are some nice vids on youtube for this sled so I should be right "gittin er done"
