Hello,
been searching for an hour now... EVERYTHING I find is for M's and or Diamond Drives, etc. Need to swap tracks and never done before. Anyone know where there is a step by step posted, pics would be great too!

Also, what about tips and tricks etc.? Special tools?, what to have on hand and stuff? Should I replace both drive shaft bearings while there? What about the driven drive shaft bearings too? Where if anywhere to use loctite? what color, blue or red? What about torque values too?

Thanks,
biGjOhn

Factory service manual.............

I have a factory service manual for '03. It is a pdf. file that was shared with me by disk. I don't know how to send it in an email, but I am sure it is possible. It has all of the good info, I am sure the dealer still has them available. I think around $50. The job you talk about is pretty simple. 1- Remove rear skid 2- Remove the chaincase cover, remove lower gear and chain. Remove the three nuts that hold the lower bearing, making sure not to damage the O-ring that seals it. 3- Remove the three nuts that hold the bearing on the left side of driveshaft. Then slide the shaft to the right side and remove it. Reverse to install. TIP- remove the bolts that hold the rear spring sliders to the rails, this removing spring preload. It makes installation way easier. Make sure when you install the rear skid, the rear shock doesn't fall down. It will go together wrong. I'll have to recheck the torque on the lower gear, I think approx 75lbs? All other fasteners are small and just need to be tightend acordingly. No need to remove the chaincase, it all comes out easily. The Arctic Cats are way easier than the Ski-doo's I've worked on. I've swapped a few tracks on my Cat, it is not a tough job. Good Luck-00's

Hey 2Zero's
thanks for the offer and the scoop on the R&R. How big is the .PDF? max my email will take is about 10mg but I know a place online where you can upload it to for free and "park" it, til I download it, then it disapears... it will give you a coded link that you can send to me so I can then download it. It's made just for this purpose.

thanks again.

Anyone know where I can get an Owner's manual for 04 King Cat?

I found one on ebay

You might want to use blue locktite on your drive shaft keeps, instead of red. if you use red you may never get it apart again.

I havent looked at my shaft (sled is new to me) so correct me if I'm wrong 2zeros

Another tip on installing the skid. Bolt the front arm in first then sit something like a 4x4 block under the track below the front shock mount. As you let the sled down on it it will push the skid back and line up the rear bolts.

I have a service manual for my 04 1M

I would be happy to share where are you located, I can only copy to a drive and have it work

Thanks, I'm in Sacramento Ca. If you are close that would be cool but what I was really looking for was on online tut that someone made... the FSM are so complicated and "by the book". I find a lot of tutorials from "real" peeps that are so much easier and more simple. I just figured maybe someone had posted up a step by step how to for this common procedure?

Thanks for all of the info. and offers everyone, I'm sure I'll manage with the FSM.

good tip, thanks! I've also heard that it is easier if you wrap and collapse it with a ratchet tie down strap too... I'll give that a whirl as well.
thanks. Now, just need to find info. removing the drive shaft, drivers & bearing R&R etc.
thanks
