Get on here in your state section and ask who's riding when.

Flatlander here, & I have no problem going out alone.
I kinda like to do that to explore different areas to lead the group when there's many of us.
Certainly not as much potential for catastrophe here as in the mountains, but I ride pretty conservatively when alone.
Have cell coverage nearly everywhere too.

i go alone 80% of the time....frequently tagalong with someone in the parking area....if no one there, i ride within a half mile or so of trail, depending on terrain...i leave detailed instructions for my whereabouts with my wife (hope that's not a mistake), i carry a spot satelite locator..also carry a storm parka, 3 days worth of food, extra gloves, lots of fire starting capability, tools, and other mix of survival stuff...not afraid to see a group on the hill and ask to tagalong with them..ride conservatively, at least until i find a group to ride with..i also maintain sled to best standards, but realize things go wrong sometimes...i've ridden dirtbikes in the sonoran desert, hiked the most remote spots in the lower 48 by myself...mindset and preparation go a long way...try to be in shape, carry snowshoes on some rides...pistol for signaling, and any other thing it might be good for...cell phone of course...main thing is to think about situations and how you would handle it before you go out...actually have some very good rides during the week when no one is there.... or i could sit at home and crochete and wish my life away...:flame::flame:

I just go up and find or ask in the parking lot if I can tag along.
When I do go alone I just play in a field close to the road and not far from the parking lot. Practice skills, I do this a lot.
Growing up in WI and MI a lot of my trail riding was alone or alone for miles to get to my riding buddies.
Most important was to tell someone: Where your going and when you will be back, carry overnight equipment and don't do stupid things.

i go up and try and mooch a ride in the parking lot, if i can't i head out alone. i stay on the trail, no climbing, never go anywhere i can't see the road from. ride only in areas where i know there are gonna be other peeps around and never go any farther than i'm willing to walk back;) ride very mellow and almost always will meet a group that is more than willing to let me tag along for the day. always let people know exactly where i'm going, when i'll be back and don't change that plan.

know lots of peeps will preach about never riding alone, but hey you can be hit by a bus and killed on the way to work. it is a risk and one that shouldn't be taken lightly. if anything should ever happen i'll accept full reponsibility for my own demise. just as anyone who goes out on s&r should accept its thier choice to go. no ones making them go out to rescue peeps, good for them for doing so, but thats thier choice. so i'm not putting anyone at risk besides myself. peeps do lots of things everyday, smoke, drink, drugs, ect, ect that can kill you. i guess its a choice only you can make for yourself and a choice that SHOULD only be made by you!!!

Same issue here I moved away from home and now I don't have much for regular riding buddies yet, same as others mentioned, I will trail ride up the cabin cause it's close to staging area, hang out talk to riding groups and usually tag along. With doing this I met a lot of novice sledder groups so I would end up showing them the area and teach them mountain riding skills, they would love it and usually feed me on the ride and after doing this a few times I get texts most weekends from someone to come riding with them again.

I've posted on snowest before and have always found someone willing to let me tag along. I've met a bunch of great people doing this and I plan on riding with them again this year!

Have sled, will travel!

I am very guilty of this, and am a hypocrite for saying anything... but it is really not smart to ride in the Mtns alone!

Always blame your riding buddies.

Show up at the lot, unload and then cuss a little. Then people realize you are a tad let down. Ask any group if you can hang with them and say that the guys you were gonna ride with bailed on you and you would hate to go home. Works every time and if it goes well you just added some friends to the riding buddy list.

I have had that done to me quite often and I have done it a few times. You can always find someone that will take you in. Sledders, for the most part aren't dicks.
