When to replace chain?

I have a boosted 1200. Low boost kit that produces somewhere between 200-220hp. I have no problem changing the chain out yearly for relaibility and peace of mind. If I could go to a belt drive, I would but want to keep my mechanial reverse in place.

How often are people changing chains out on either the boost 2S or 4S?

I know chains are cheaper than a heli ride out :plane:

I broke a chain half way through the year the first year my xp had a turbo. it was ran NA with a pipe and head for two years before the turbo. When the chain did break all it broke was one link plate. Chain didn't actually brake and was still riding it. Broken link plate tore up the chain slider on the end of the adjuster. Only way I knew is because I was changing the top sprocket. The slider was the hardest thing to find quickly. So now I have a spare slider incase it happens again.
So year and a half now on the chain that is on it now. I believe I got it from wahl brothers. I was going to leave it on again for this year. Just check that chain is adjusted properly frequently.
I have ben thinking of changing to a hyvo chain and sprocket setup. It is supposed to be stronger. Just havn't done it.

My 13 wide stretched a great deal the first ride on boost and by the second had already come apart.

With your setup you could just get a Hyvo chain and sprockets from Robbie at Avid Products. At low boost and without a 3 inch track that would be a reliable setup for power transfer.

No reverse

THanks...wish I could keep reverse somehow...if C3 had a reverse setup with their belt drive I'd be swapping.
