Whats your take on handguards

Since I have the low windshield, and 1" riser on my pro tapers, I find my hands get really cold while riding the trail in and out of the riding areas.
Yesterday I got a set of handguards, and almost immediately after purchasing them I thought "what kind of wheenie have I turned into". Are the handguards cool and acceptable, or am I teedering on trailerqueen status.
I do ride my sled hard, roll it over when stuck, run it through tree branches and over rocks without even thinking about it. However this is really my first sled with a wrap (others had mesh hood) and I find myself caring about the appearance more times than not.

the Polaris Hand Gaurds Fit very Well on the Pro Tapers!!!

For the trail ride back and the end of the day... windy.. wet and cold hands... These are a Must.. Just flat out keep the wind off your hands!

In the thick brush.. when your coming up to the tall alder brush.. i don't think OO this is going to hurt.. or try taking a hand off the bars not to hit it..

With handgaurds.. i end up taking the littly brushy of a line.. Fresher snow.. no one else wants this line! :) Hang on!!

Work Great..

They work great, definetly needed on the Pro just make sure you carry the right size allen wrench and hand wrenches to re-tighten them. Every once and a while they will fold down and the bolt will come loose, tighten up and good to go again.

I have used the Skinz hand guards for several years. They are the warmest ones that I know of. They do offer some brush protection as well. They do look nice IMO, and come in different colors. You can easily put them on or off in seconds, so not a problem if using a tight cover.

use the polaris hand guards and mts. I use them just to keep my hands warmer and to keep the ice chunks from hitting my fingers on the road

Handguards on all my sleds and dirtbikes...there is no reason to ride without them except as stated not the best look...lol... but they have saved my hands from the cold and nasty impacts more than once, especially on the dirtbikes. You take a good sized rock in the hand at 60+ mph and you will wish to god you had a handguard.

I was thinking about using the Polaris guards. I'm sure they would be nice to keep my hands warmer (I use thin gloves), but lately my knuckles have taken a beating in the sticks. I don't sidehill the old fashion way near as much on the Pro (hanging on the end of the bars). With the Pro I either just carve or wrong foot forward. I figure that might make using guards easier.

polaris hand guards are super!

warm hands and saves my knuckles in the trees. keep an allen wrench handy and go for it:face-icon-small-coo

i'd say there a must, warm hands and unbusted fingers;)

Do these guards work with the Mid Matte windshield or do they hit when you turn the bars?

Hand Guards

I Put Cycra Hand Guards On My Pro. They Are The Same One I Use On My Dirt Bike With The Aluminum Bar That Mounts On Both Ends Of The Guard. They Work Great For Wind Pertection As Well As Trees. In The Past With Normal Snowmobile Hand Guards I Was Constantly Breaking Them Off When I Would Roll It Over But These Dont Break They Are Very Strong. If You Get Some Just Buy The Normal Motorcycle Guards, Then You Have To Bend The Aluminum Center Bar To mount Up To The Pros Handle Bars.

I've tried running regular guards & have broken every set rolling the sled.

Finally found these, the only barkbuster style ones I've found with actual wind guards on them.

cycra I believe is the brand.

we have to do a bunch of bending on them to fit cat bars, but they'd slap right on a poo I think.

I would like to find something a little more flexible than the Polaris ones. I have seen them and they are way too stiff for my liking.

Some time ago someone mentioned that ROX makes one that is flexible, but with a stiffer "backbone" and the rest of it is sort of a padded thick fabric. They said it was super easy to attach/take off. No metal attachment/brackets to bend or break, and also that these wouldn't be a problem to get your hand stuck in if you crash...not that any of us do that... :)

Anyone had any experience with these??

So do these guards get in the way at all when doing stupid pet tricks? I've never run them on a mtn sled myself, but am definitely considering it. Dirt bikes definitely. One of my buddies banged up his hand in the trees last week, which was a wakeup call for us... Thanks

I tried them for a while, but kept mangling them. They always end up looking like a piece of modern art after I ride. Too much upside down maneuvering is not very good for them. My fault, not the handguards.

So they don't handle it when you roll a sled over, as in unsticking a sled?

I have the polaris ones and they are nice when riding out in the open areas but now I wish I would have bought the ROX handguards, more flexible, I think they would work better when rolling the sled over and also would be safer in a crash.
