What's up with the search engine?

90% of my searches are rejected as being to large a file. If you add more specific items the search only gets bigger, right? I have had to reduce the search to one or two words and then you get a bunch of junk. Also, old archived files used to come up in a huge list of relevant items, now I get jiberish on all archived files. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Is there a better way to search, can I make words stay together in a search, like other search engines? Is there a advanced search?

Thanks, CFV

Please give me an example of a search you tried that resulted in gibberish results that I can duplicate.

Is there a advanced search?

Thanks, CFV

Yes, click on the search button, and then click on advanced search. You can then enter what you are searching for, a specific user that posted it, the title of a specific thread you are looking for if you know it, and the specific area of the forum you want to search for it in.

The general search key at the top of the forum is totally worthless IMO, but the advanced search seems to work quite well.:beer;

Christopher - If I try anything that has "archive" in the address bar it goes to this. If it has "showthread" it does not.

For several pages.......

Ford Guy - Thanks, I will try the same with the advanced search. Having access to the older stuff is one of the reasons I am here. Most of the M7 questions have been answered, I just have to find it.

Thanks, Chad

Understood.
But please give me a phrase that will trigger that result so I can trace it through in the database and find the corrupted files that are causing this.

type "firecat" in the search box

The first page does what he is talking about.

I use the advanced search, but don't remember that happening before in the main search, kinda weird.

Honestly though, just do what was suggested, the advanced search works very well once you get used to it. I think the main search button not working well is one of the reasons we see the same threads over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over & over and over again.

Anybody know which skis work on an M series? How tall of a riser can I put on my M8? What is the best track? How do I make my mountain sled go over 100?

Exactly!

Thank you backcountry, all the above links are jiberish. Anything that is archived. I run into it on most searches "using the search box". And the comment about rehashing old threads is correct. I searched and searched for injector information (found some) but in the end asked the question again, on a 2006 sled. I know the questions has been asked before, I just cannot get into the archived files to look. CFV

OK.
The ARCHIVE problem has been FIXED.

Took us a while to figure this one out, but you should now be able to search the entire database on SnoWest and NOT see any of that unformated text!
