What's the trick?

I have a set of slidekicks scratchers and I haven't been able to keep them tight. Is there a trick to these things or what has worked for you guys. P.S I tired red lock tight and it didn't work any other ideas?

I just put mine on using the supplied instructions. I used their locking washer against the rail, and did actually torque the bolts to their specs. I just used blue loctite on mine. They have not come loose in 800 miles. I have run them on trail, off trail, and once in a while driving into the enclosed lol.

I did the same as SD. Mine still came loose. I took the frickin things off and installed HOLZ scratchers on again. Not impressed with the way the slidekicks worked anyways. I get way more scratchings on my rails now.

I have a set that have been on for almost 1500 miles. On-trail off-trail never a problem. I used blue loctite and put the star washer on the outside of the rail. My A-D-D kicks in so I would ruin a spring set in about 30 seconds.:face-icon-small-coo

The left side is the one that will come loose normally. I use blue loctite on the threads, a serrated star washer, and a Nord-lock washer. The $.90 Nord-lock washer was added when I swapped out the regular tip for the $35.00 carbide tips to ensure I never lost a scratcher.

If heard this from many people, you are not alone. When I bought scratchers for my ride, they asked which ones I wanted. I smirked and said the Holz scratchers please.

Well I'm going to give it another shot and see if I can get them to stay tight useing what I have heard worked for other people

I have had mine for over1500 miles and never had one come loose, I just used the supplied hardwear and some blue loctite then tighten to the spec with the instructions,I never put mine up they are always down they work great:)

Use locktite and torque to the spec of 35 lbs as noted in the instructions. Also keep in mind you can only use the star washer one time. If they came loose or you removed for any reason, get a new star washer. Following the above will insure they will work and work for a long time.

Thanks to everyone who replied. I've got all brand new hardware and am going to give this another shot. It should work:high5:
