Whats the dif. between pcIII pcv

copied and pasted from the PC website:

  • Reduced size from PCIIIusb (less than half of the size of PCIII)
  • USB powered from computer (9 volt adapter is no longer needed for programming)
  • 2 position map switching function built in (map switch not included)
  • Gear input (allows for map adjustment based on gear and speed)
  • Analog input (allows user to install any 0-5 volt sensor and build an adjustment table based on its input such as boost or temperature)
  • With gear position input connected the PCV is capable of allowing each cylinder to be mapped individually and for each gear (for example: on a 4 cylinder bike with a six speed transmission there could be up to 24 separate fuel tables).
  • Unit has a -100/+250% fuel change range (up from -100/+100%). This allows more adjustment range for 8 injector sportbikes
  • 10 throttle position columns (up from 9 on PCIIIusb)
  • Enhanced “accel pump” utility (increased adjustment and sensitivity ranges)
hope that helps.

So the programming is more advanced on the pcv but they are basically the same. The pcIII will work fine on the 09 D8???

It'll "work" the same

Main difference being that with the PC-5 you can switch between 2 different maps and you can add AUTOTUNE at anytime.

but on the 5 you cant make any adjustments in the field, unless you bring a computer... on a PC3 you got three ranges in rpm (0-3000 3000-6000 6000-9000) that you can lean or fatten up i 2% steps....

sorry to jack the thread but a pcv 3 will work on a newer sled like a 2010 rmk 800? and can you still put a map on it like from slp?

The PC-3 will work on ALL CFI 4 injector engines like the 2010 800

It will NOT work on the 2-injector engines like the 2011 800, even tough it plugs into the stock wire harness.

The SLP maps for a PC-5 will work fine, just have to type in the numbers manually (3 minutes of work) as would be the case with any PC-5 map.

Hey thanks for all the help guys. What is involved with the 9v bat to power it up. So I can get a map from Jim at dynotech and install right on the pcIII?

personally i went with the PCV as the auto-tune module is just about the right price for the kids and wife to buy collectively for papa's christmas :face-icon-small-win

so what one you guys recommend? pclll or pcv for a novice person just making sure his sled dont sieze.

For ease of use, same/ same

IF at anytime in the fore-seeable future you may end up POSSIBLY up-grading to AUTO-TUNE, then get the PC-5.

IF someone is selling a PC-3 CHEAP, buy it,

You'll be happy either way
