Whats the deal with Bogie wheels ?

I have seen some guys with the 08 Xp's run all bogie wheels and I have seen some not run any except for a big wheel kit.

Do you need all bogie wheels or do they take them off because they are extra weight??

I guess it depends on the conditions you mostly run. Guys without the wheels say is is really easy to tilt the sled on its side and it is better in powder riding. Guys on the trail may like more wheels to keep the track to the trail with less resistance on the sliders/hyfax, and better cornering.

The theory is that removing all of the track wheels removes weight and decreases parasitic drag. All of those spinning little wheels suck power from the track, power that could be used to push snow. You only want to remove them if most of your riding is in soft snow/powder, not hardpack. If you do alot of riding on hardpacked trails, even with scratchers, it is hard on the both the track and hifax, and in my opinion, not worth it.
