whats the best movie compilation software.

I would like to take the movie snips, and compile them into a movie to watch on DVD, for friends and family.

What is the best software that you have worked with?

If you have some free time, pinnacle studio 11 is pretty good, very comprehensive.
I also just got adobe premier elements with a sanyo xacti waterproof camcorder. seems pretty decent as well, lots of effects, dvd title menus and such.
Hope this helps. would love to hear from some people who are really into it though!

Mac + iMovie/iDVD.

Makes it real simple, hardware's great for video, and the software's decent and comes with the computer. No drivers to mess with or anything... out of the box, plug in camera, make movies.

If you've got an interface to the camera on your computer already, windows movie maker *can* do it, but it's not that robust.

i use adobe premeire. it is great once you get the hang of it but there are some quirks to it and seem dumb before you get the hang of it. my only problem is burning to DVD but all of the newer versions can burn directly to DVD without extensive formatting like i have to do.

Magix Movie Edit Pro 14.... has everything you'd ever need and more for the average guy out there. Quite easy to use as well.

I found with Pinnacle when you wanted something it "cost extra" to get it. Need slow mo??? For an extra $4.99... no thanks.

just my thoughts,,,, I'm also fairly new to this though. I have only made a couple sled clips, 1st one pretty hokey, 2nd one better. Just posted the 2nd one the other day in general snowmobiling, thread called "Quick sled vid from sunday" or something close to that. Have a look.

I got nero with my new burner. Had no warning; It shut me out, and asked me to purchase it.

It was a freaking 30 day Demo. So I was about to pull the trigger and purchase it, but then I thought that there are probably some better programs that I should look into. I haven't fallen in love with it.

You guys have given me some good examples, some of which I hadn't heard of.

Thanks.

anyone else who has experience with a program that they like, I would like to hear about it.

degrades video quality in finished product tho. fine for youtube vids and such, but disappointing when burned to dvd.

I have Pinnacle studio 10 and I find the Windows Movie Maker just as good, I don't think the video degradation is as bad in the new versions (Vista Home Premium), the one that came with XP was bad. My DVD's look OK and on my computer monitor I can't see any degradation from my old camera, (640X480). I even did some 720P and couldn't see any difference.

I've been dragging my feet, I'll look at this program.

I just bought the majix program, it's been interesting trying to figure it out to say the least LOL! No question once I get the hang of it it's gonna rock;) Tons of great features and effects.
