Whats the best combo for Black and Tans.

Half and half if your Irish, and real Irish use Harp. If you order a black and tan at a real Irish pub and don't get correct thats its a half and half. The bartender is not Irish. I guess black and tan in Ireland is not a good thing. Black and tan refers to the Royal Irish Constabulary Reserve Force. Although it was established to target the Irish Republican Army, it became notorious through its numerous attacks on the Irish civilian population. Their uniform colors were black and tan. So Irish citizens hate the name black and tan.

Most americans use bass because its lighter than Harp. However Bass is from Britian so a true Half and half should be made with harp and guiness.

A half & half yes, but the B & T started with the Brits (wiki). Just use Bass or find a good pub with Smithwicks on tap. Doesn't really matter - all good beer - mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm:beer;

Not really sure but I'm getting thirsty just thinking about it!! Off to the bar.:beer;:beer;

My favorite is a cream of wheat. Guiness and Boulevard...a little Kansas City flair.

Guiness, but it's gotta be on tap not the can or bottle.

But Since I lived in Germany for 2yrs I'm a huge fan of German Brews. My favorites are
Maisels Crystal Heffe Weitzen-not available in states
Erdinger Crystal or Dunkel Heffe Weitzen-available
Paulaner Crystal Heffe Weitzen-available
Bitburger Pills (bitte ein bit!)-available

And the grand daddy of all beers. a good Dopple Bock that pours like molasas! (paulaner savator- rare)

DOPPLE BOCK

Bock beers in Germany are traditionally strong lager beers. Doppel, in German means double. Putting this together, we have a doubly strong lager beer. The flavor is similar to the Oktoberfest, only stronger on all flavor notes. The color is a deep red.

Doppel bock has become a traditional holiday beer for the Germans. The old German breweries would lager (age) this beer all through the summer and fall [for a Winter release] in ice caves under the brewery. This beer was rumored to have nutritional sustenance properties due to its strength. This beer was part of the daily diet of German monks. In fact Bock beer was the only nutrition Martin Luther allowed himself during his fast known as the "Diet of Worms." Worms is a German city, he was not eating worms.
