I just bought a set of coldwave snowboots and they are rigid like a snowboarding boot. Is there any advantages or dissadvatages to that? I have never worn a boot like that before , and i have never been snowboarding so any input will help thanks.

they are definately a little weird to walk in, but its the only kind of boot i wear. they have saved my feet plenty of times from banging of the running boards, trees, skis, and tracks. i spend a lot of time on my sled not in the normal riding postition, or the sled is trying to do the riding. the extra support makes it way easeir to ride IMO, and i snowboarded when i started to sled, so that might have some affect on it!!

I'll wear a boot like the Klim Adrenaline on the trail or just to wear around but when I ride aggressive, I like to have more support. The first pair I ever wore wear the FXR snocross boots and those were weird getting used to. The back of the boot was angled in really far so you always had quite a bend at the knees and if you had to jump in a car and drive, it was almost impossible! I'm not sure about other boots but I like the fact that the Radiums are very stiff, yet the back is pretty much straight up and down.

Snowboard boots are the best for support. I like the ability to put my foot on anything and not worry about rolled ankles and the like. The forward bend of the snowboard boots is nice too, helps you to remember to bend them knees. For aggressive riding, snowboard boots rock.

I rode with motocross boots once last year, I really like them, except they were too heavy to be picking up and moving from side to side. My legs got tired of that.

I used to ride in WWII micky mouse boots, warmest things every, but the ankle support was lacking, especially for mountain riding / boondocking / jumping.
