Whats most centrally located city for all around variety of sledding and night life.

Plenty of places that you can get a decent meal and a drink, but hardly anywhere in the mountains qualify as nightlife.

Aspen is the closet thing to nightlife, then probably Breckenridge.

Out of what you listed, I'd agree with Steamboat. Good meal can be had in all three.

If you're not wanting to bang out a zillion miles from Texas, then Pagosa Springs would maybe fit your bill for a little nightlife and chance of snow. Wold Creek obviously, and few other places not to far away to ride.

Buena Vista is alright I guess, but Cottonwood is so hit or miss for snow. Really more miss. So, other than being closer to Leadville, I give it a meh.

Salida is an alright little town with Monarch Pass doing better for snow than Cottonwood, but a little tougher access and smaller riding area. Marshall Pass to the south is even more miss than Cottonwood.

So for BV or Salida, I just go on over the divide, and stay at Gunnison. Can access the same stuff from the west if they get snow. If not go up to Crested Butte, or west to Black Mesa.

For farther north, could stay in Dillon/Silverthorne or Frisco, then you got Vail Pass, Montezuma, Spring Creek and a few others. Plus not too far to Leadville.

Or stay in Winter Park or Fraser, then you got Jones, Corona, or could run up to Grand Lake.

Steamboat is good and gives you a few deferent sled options, plus a little nightlife.

So Steamboat, Pagosa, Gunnison, Fraser, and Dillon?

I guess it depends on your idea of night life and riding.

I live in Eagle County and night life is great for younger people in the Vail area during the winter. Obviously it is mostly tourists, but tons of bars, concerts and activity.

Riding is great here with Red & White and Vail Pass. Plus you have access to the Flat Tops and you are not far from the Leadville riding terrain.

Your biggest problem is going to be finding a place to live. This county is already drying up for the winter and I'm sure places like Steamboat are the same.

Yes only places you need to go, don't bother going to or exploring any other areas....!

Pretty open ended question. Anywhere in the Denver/metro area to the entire western slope has good riding. Sure some places are better than others. The biggest thing is can you find a job that you can make a living with. Nightlife depends on what you want. Do you like to go "clubbing", sports bars, places with live music, or just somewhere you can get a strong drink and good meal? Riding is pretty exceptional anywhere in this state.

Did someone say that Buena Vista had night life? Sorry, but shopping at the City Market after dark doesn't count.

We are toying with the idea of moving to Grand Junction. It would be easy to get to the Mesa and Flat Tops for both summer and winter activities. Traffic should be better and less noise and congestion associated with the Front Range and I-70 traffic corridor.

If I were wealthy and didn't need to work, I'd consider living in the Winter Park area. It is convenient to Grand Lake and Steam Boat Springs. At our age, nightlight is dinner and a movie and Winter Park has several decent restaurants and a movie theater.

If you are young and crave the nightlife of a metro area then you are stuck with Denver and I-70 traffic. I hear that 2 bedroom apartments in Denver now run anywhere from 1,400 to 2,000 per month. That is absolutely nuts and more than the mortgage on my 4 bedroom home on a 1/3 acre in northern Colorado Springs.

Colorado Springs was once a nice city but has grown too much and too fast. It is still more affordable than Denver but that is changing quickly. Nightlife is so-so and I'm glad I'm not single living here. Commuting to/from the sledding areas is a hassle but not impossible as long as you understand that may spend more time in a day driving back/forth than riding unless you spend $$ for a hotel room.
