whats a skidoo like? in the market for a newer sled

i need some info on a 04-06 doo summit or whatever mountain sleds they had for these years. i have a 02 cat 151 and have ridden a 07 M8 153 and was wondering how the 04-06 800's 151's doo's compare to the M's. Durability, power, handeling, climbing, boondocking, FUEL RANGE!!!, REVERSE !!! and anything else you might think of.i know the M7's + M8's are pushing out 140 hp, handle great, and get over 100 miles on their fuel range, but im not all that impressed. im not real big on polaris and yamaha is to expensive and heavy for me so i thought i might try the doo. i've heard good things but id like to hear more.

Thanks in advance
Jeremy

P.s. please dont make this into a brand war

very happy with 06 800 151x

I picked up 2 new sleds this year. Both are 06 800 151X and they rock !! The REV platform is a little different and takes some getting used to. I switch from Polaris.

Seems that many think 06 is the year they really had the REV dialed in. I would agree but don't have much experience with other years.

I ride with Dragon and M or King cats all the time and they have longer tracks but I seem to keep up without much trouble. 16" wide track has a BIG foot print so it climbs and boondocks great. If you are a chute runner, the turbo Yami is an option or a full mod but for us normal all mtn riders the REV really does everything well.

I paid around $6300 for each of them (450 / 1650 miles) and both had a couple minor things done to them.

Good luck

I got a 07 xrs 3 weeks ago after week one and two i was ready to sell it . But this week i learned how to ride the machine i could not ask for a better machine . this week while riding on the hill i have made moves that before i had a very hard time doing . as far as fuel mileage we start at 8am and get off at 3pm to 5pm the hole time we are bondocking or on a hill no trail and so far the most i have used is 6gals . as far as how it stacks up agains other sleds i have not rode with a new rmk 800 but last sunday i rode with a m8 in pine ,id i dont know if the m8 was stock but i had no problems with high marking him dont get me wrong the m8 is a good machine but on this hill he lost speed and got stuck . i went thru. the hole he made in the hill and over the top that should speek for its self . but i did not know if the man was a good rider or not

Ive put a lot of time on an '04 rev, it fits my riding style and I jumped on it for the first ride of the year so it didnt take anytime getting use to for me. I get around 85 miles to a tank and that is throttle down most the time. I do carry the spare tank which fit on revs nicely but rarely use it because I dont usually put on more then 60miles of hillclimbing without being worn out in a day. My experience shows the rev gets the m7/8 most the time. Never personally rode an M chassis but they look liek they are a very good/light sled, its just hard to compete with the 16 wide track becasue u have a huge footprint and u can through it around like a 15 wide.

I don't know about all this mileage stuff. I can burn a tank in 40-50 miles real easy and use the spare to grab another 10 plus safely get to the trailer. I have never been on a ride that netted 85-100 miles on any sled without major refueling. I was dry at 43 the other day and adding 2 gallons from the spare to make it out. 57 miles and I had enough fuel to make it from the trailer to the garage before it shut down.

The new AC's are sweet sleds and may actually fit your style better. Some people love the rev chassis and some just never get comfortable. It is a personal preference deal IMO. As far as performance etc. The REV is extremely competitive!

same as what everyone says basically...it is all opinion...I ride an 05 Skidoo RT1000...I love that sled...lots of torque anda running about 175hp with bout 120 torque....

the 800 REVs run about 140hp-150hp and about 90-95 torque...

I love the REV and RT chassis...you sit higher and more forward..I have never ridin a cat or poo but they seem to sit lower...I could be wrong tho...

and as for 800 vs 800's...I think they are all pretty close..just depends on rider...

05 and 06 800's from what I read are the best years to get for the REV...buy one and you wont be disappointed...just make sure you put a good 500 miles on it before you decide if you like it or not...get the feel...

It's what you like dude!

I jusy came off a kk900 162x16, twin pipes, reeds, etc. And i now have an xp 800 163" stock, and it would give the kk a run for its money on the hill.

Not to mention the Doo has suspension too!

The ride is second to none on the doo. I can ride it all day and not be tired. Nice sled, buy one!

Chaz

is the rev still the summit? i looked it up on doo's site and it said rev was the platform. this is what your all talking about right. please excuse my stupidity but ive been riding cats for 15 years. also the doo's remind my wife of the old phazers a little. we have one and love it and if this is anything like this just modernized we would love them.

you think that the XP would give you kk a run for its money? i would hope so, i think you need some more sattle time, unless your king kats a 1350 or turbod they aint playin with each other. Revs are great, go 07, much better cooling engine, bit of warranty left, and not comparable for power with 05/06.
We have 1 06, 3 07 and 2 08 and the 07 walk all over the 06. No problems with any of them
