What would you do?

Sitting at home, was supposed to leave late this afternoon for Sicamous. Other riders in group are late because of snow and driving conditions in town. We are now at the point where we would likely not arrive until 1-2 in the morning on crappy roads the whole way. (or later depending on conditions)

I say go early in the morning and drive mostly in the daylight and while the storm is tapering off. Other guy in group is all bent for hell to still go tonight.

I can guess some of the responses I'll get but I'll throw this out just for fun.

What would you do?

I'd still go tonite.......who knows how much it'll snow thru the night, roads could be closed in the morning. Then you'd really be late.

Just take ur time tonite and make sure you get there. Our group would still be going but we have a 14hr drive

:beer;

The roads are pretty slick and you'll be driving in snow all the way. It's supposed to snow most of tomorrow tapering off in the afternoon. Sunny for Sunday. We are getting a good dump of snow so should be some good sledding tomorrow. I'd suggest driving out in the morning, gives us locals time to track it up! lol.

Go now. I find driving in foul weather at night with less traffic much more comforting.

I prefer driving through storms at night after 7000 hours in a snowcat in the dark. The flat light is when it starts to get light outside. On the other hand, if your not going to be able to sleep maybe wait. Bring your pillow and play night-blind.:p

Geter done

If the roads are open (which I believe they still are) Go tonight. Make sure you have lots a fuel in tank, bring some food and something to drink. I checked the web cams not bad yet. There will be less traffic tonight. You could be playing in the deep pow pow when everyone else is waiting for the roads to open!!

Drive, eat, sleep in whatever order you guys need to make it work for you to get there. 6 extra hours of waiting sucks when you really want to go somewhere quick!

That is one heck of a problem. At least you have snow to complain about. I haven't seen a flake yet this year.

I would head out tonight.

When in doubt throttle out!

No question, I'd already be on my way. I'd leave you behind if you didn't want to go until morning.

I have a friend that says if you really want to know the road conditions check the chain up status on drive bc website:http://www.th.gov.bc.ca/roadreports/chains/chains.asp

Revelstoke: Eastbound (Albert Canyon): Chain up not in effect.
Rogers Pass: Eastbound (Sir Donald): Chain up not in effect.
Rogers Pass: Eastbound (Heather Hill): Chain up not in effect.
Rogers Pass: Westbound (Beaver Hill): Chain up not in effect.
Hwy 1: Westbound (Donald Hill): Chain up not in effect.
Golden Hill: Eastbound (east side of Golden): Chain up not in effect.
5 Mile Hill: Westbound (5 miles east of Golden): Chain up not in effect.
10 Mile Hill: Eastbound (10 miles east of Golden): Chain up not in effect.

Then you get a feel for what the road conditions really are.

Highways wont be half as busy at nite, actually will statistically be safer even if there is a storm. Switch out drivers often and drink lots of redbull............
