What would you change on your 800 Pro.

Ok make a list of the top 5 things you would change on your Pro. I love this sled but with any sled I think things can only get better. Lets keep this clean and simple and on point and hopefully Polaris may check this out.

Elevation and model of sleds Two Pro 162 sleds ride from 5,000 to 11,000ft

Mods done Two Boondocker turbo kits

1. Twist lock panel pins :So your on the best ride of the year the snow is going over the hood but the goggles start to fog so you quick go to open the panels throw the goggles in and take them back out a few min later only to fight the panel locks what a PITA this is sometimes it goes perfect other times it sucks.

2. Were did the hood go?? : It’s not just me just the other weekend I was up watching guys with Pro sleds walk over the there fellow AC friends sled only to see them lift the hood and throw in there gloves or goggles to warm things up. Why can’t the front narrow clip be made to open up then I would never need to mess with the side panels all day??

3. Track options. : I would love to have an option for 2.5 extreme track or something new that would grip the hard based snow a little more.

4. Front bumper For the guys that like to boondock why not have a bumper that can protect the sled a bit more??

5. Electric start Ok stop laughing here but seriously how nice would it be to have a lightweight electric start for your Pro. I am not talking about the old heavy units I am talking about 4 stroke motorcycle light weight like KTM and such. This sled starts easy for sure but still nice to have the option and I bet if they spent some time we could get a very lightweight electric start.

1.Rear bumper. need something with some strength to it.

2. Valving in the track shocks on the SW Assault. the valving is softer than a two up trail sled.

3. a place to put your tool kit some where under the body panels so they stay warm and try. some brackets for the spare plugs to.

4. some vents around the clutchs. keep temps down under the hood and better belt life.

5. recoil rope. it is almost easier to lift the motor to pull the recoil off. would be nice to see some sort of a cable instead of rope then u would never half to worry about breakin a rope.

I would say between the pins, goggle problem (you can put them right over the head and shut the panel on the pto side, works real well), and the electric start (what????) if that is the only thing you would change Polaris "dunn real good"...

i would like the seat just a couple of inches shorter in length. i have to lift the toe of my boot to keep it from dragging across the seat. came off an M where the new seat was just the right length.

bumpers of course, been dreading having to hook a tow rope to it and watching it shatter! as stated above would be nice to have a little better front bumper, the way it is now when you get into a tree the bumper pretty much shoves it in between the a-arms and bumper.

airframe type running boards, the new ones work better than any other stockers out there but could always be more open.

stock tether, think this should be factory for all sleds.

beeper for reverse, i know most peeps hate them but have already had a couple of instances where i've gotten off my sled and hopped it while in reverse and forgot when i got back on and gave it some flipper:)

oil injection deleted, in this age of worrying about every ounce just can't see the need or want for that huge oil bottle sitting in there holding pounds of oil i'm not gonna need!!! not to mention the weight of the pump itself, come on peeps 4 ounces to a gallon is not rocket science!!!

lightweight electric start would be really nice, wifes dragon has it and its very nice. Use small yuasa 7 battery.

a hatch in the hood with a mesh basket under it to keep stuff dry and warm.

factory option of 174 3" track with true antirachet drivers ect all done. Call it hillclimb special so something

team tied as standard

and heres the big one, FACTORY turbo with proper mass air self tuning system just like a modern turbo car has....hit key and go 225 hp+ even if it was a 6000.00 option id order one in a heartbeat if it worked flawless with warrenty

1) Rear bumper needs to be stronger, mines about to break even after cutting off the flap nubbin'.

2)Running boards needs to be also stronger as mine are bowed in the middle of the boards from kicking the snow out.

3)Also I agree the hood needs to open like a conventional hood, although you can do most things from the side, it would just be easier if the hood opened.

4)Block off plate in front of bulkhead, I had to buy a slp plate to get rid of fist sized holes on the tub.

5)Better protected wires.

1) Stronger rear bumper

2) Stronger A-arms

3) Stronger boards

4) Redo coolers/chassis to use the center for cooling. No cooler 2" from tunnel side for less ice-buildup on boards.

5) More tunnel/track clearance

Wont put up closing of the bellypan holes, consider this a mistake to be corrected!!

RS

1) - I agree on the tilting hood. Side panel pins do work good but they have given me problems too. I had ice freeze in them and had to use a heat gun to clear them out.

2.) - 5.1 track is much better on the Pro than it was on the IQ. A harder option should be available with a snow check though (w/o having to go to the Assault).

3.) - Rear bumper looks cool but is not functional. You can't pull with it and it is slippery.

4.) - Fix the f'n TPS! Why is it that Polaris has more problems than anyone with the TPS?

5.) - Fix the motor mount issue, oil line issue and bog (although I had none of these problems).

6.) - Team Tied stock (makes sense, SLP doesn't even sell the TSS-04 anymore).

7.) - KTM style electric start. Ha, I like it.

8.) - Make it cheaper!

improvements

1.factory installed tether, should be mandatory. 2. A 13 gallon gas tank, why in the heck should everybody have to buy a 2 gallon tank to bolt on the tunnel.3 SLed should have a spare belt, spare spark plugs and factory installed skid, handguards, choice of windshield. Why the he11 should you have to lay out another 500 bucks to make a sled ready to go?4. Better hood, side panel attachment and easier toolless removal with better access to spare belt, tool and spark plug holder 5.Step up the quality control at factory ,wiring rubs, routing, oil line needs a spring in it so it wont kink, get rid of the chinese wiring harness with cheap clips, rivets rubbing track, lots of little things that could be fine tuned and improved on at assembly. Really a great platform for Polaris to improve upon. Huge improvement over the dragon for handling. Any company that rests on their success will soon eat somebody elses dust. If they don't show up with any changes to known problems in 2012 I will be pretty disappointed . If it is improved I will probably snowcheck again. I am liking the sled but there is always room to improve and enhance and offer more.

I don't know if I could come up with 5 things but the one thing I would like is to be up in HP where Doo and Cat are. This sled is no slouch but just think if they get 10 more ponies out of this 800 how sick that would be. Clutching was very close for stock and handling is 2nd to none.

2 pop up hood as well, I put my muffpot in front of the Y-pipe but it would be much easier to get to from above :)

3 tied secondary

outside of these minor details I have never been happier with a sled that I have owned. Every time I get back to the truck and I'm not beat from tree riding all day I know that Polaris did very well with the set up on this sled.

1. Stronger motor mount system
2. Make a latched hood
3. Stronger running boards
4. Better shock package
5. Stronger front and rear bumpers

1) Another hinge the hood vote (need to figure out what to do with the wire harness)

2) Add cut out in footwell area of the boards to allow snow clearout

3) Add vented block off plates by foot wells to prevent possible snow injestion

4) Lighted console switchs so you can at least find the right one at night

5) Rethink rear bumper

-Fox shocks option
-move the tail light (mine became a bullseye for my buddies)
-wider, wrap around the side front bumper standard
-tilt the gauge up
-thicker material for the runningboards, but open them up at the front and back for the snow that seems to pile up there more than anywhere. I dont put much pressure on the very front or the very back so those seem like areas that could be more open.

-One more thing would be a good place to mount your snowbunjie!

-Different coolant bottle that's not attached by one rivet and a thin piece of plastic.

-The running board side rails break the cast attachment part at the front footwell super easy.

-The running boards need a re-design similar to the airframes. I'm 135lbs and have bent them bad after less than 20 hrs of ride time.

-A black powdercoated tunnel would be a nice addition.

-An adjustable height steering post like cat but stronger than cats.

-Holes at the front of the belly pan plugged.

-Shorter length seat which would make it lighter and more easily maneuvered around.

-A-arms that don't bend downward making them more exposed to objects.

-Actual adjustments on the RMK shocks including compression and rebound.

-Get rid of the old school red kill switch.

-Stronger bumpers front and rear.

-Stock ice scratchers that allow you to reverse and not break them.

-Get rid of the stupid break noise, how did that even make it into production in the first place???

1. boondockers turbo from factory
2. shorter handlebars
3. larger fuel tank
4. boondockers turbo
5.boondockers turbo

Wasn't sure I could think of 5 but I made it.

*Fox shock option, stock are junk. Had mine re-valved

*Stronger bumpers front and rear

*Raise the damn bars with nice factory riser, not all of us are midgets

*Non slip seat cover and make seat a little taller and shorter

*Stronger running boards, with more open design. Stock aren't terrible, but can be improved

*More Hp from factory. 10Hp behind the Etech is a bit much

1.

What about an options list that included all the above. When I order a new pickup I get all the little bells and whistles that I want and none that I dont. Want leather, pay for leather. Want bigger power, pay for bigger power. Want a certain gear ratio or engine/tranny cooling, $$$ done. Color scheme, tire size/style, it goes on and on. (In a good way).

The auto industry has a whole menu of options that can be ordered, or you can just go to the lot and pick one already configured that you can live with. I know the volume of cars is a lot more, but even a handful of these possible options for a pre-order or spring check would be great and give Polaris a nod over the competition.

Thats 1, cant think of 4 more. EW
