what will a negative degree timing key do?

Have a rg turbo m1000. Sled has real strong bottom end with stock key! How much will the negative timing hurt bottom end performance? How much will it help with detno on top? Thanks

On a turbo, I would not run it. It will actually hurt the bottom a little bit as they like advanced timing on the bottom, but retarded on top.

won't see too much difference at the bottom, but will help a lot with deto on top.......this key will have your air fuel mixture ignited 2 degrees closer to piston, connecting rod top dead center therefore retarding the ignition of your mixture and preventing detonation.

will be more though to cold start tough....!!

The negative timing on top is what I'm concerned with as I have a melted pto piston and cylinder that went down at 8.5# with 50/50 100ll and vp110. So I'm I was thinking The bottom is very strong I'm willing to sacrafice a little bottom end performance for some more safety on top! Anyone else see any problems with this? Thanks for replys guys trying to build and tune this turbo with my only help coming from you guys thanks Ryan

BTW gino with presion efi your a good guy and was happy to do business with ya thanks for everything!

Instead of doing a timing key why not run a boondocker or ovs timing module??? They will give you the benefits of a negative key up top but don't touch the timing down low.

that.

Easier install, not that much more money... seems like a win win to me if you need that lower timing at the top.

Well I have motor out of sled and I have a 1.5 key from my mod motor and I was thinking right now it could be some real cheap and easy insurance on top end! I've thought about the timing modules but I wanted to give them some time on the snow before I put one on my sled! Not sure exactly how they work but I know if they fail while your running 10-12# on pg its going to grenade the motor real fast.especially the 1000

timing key

I have run the BD key on pg up to 10 lbs at 5000 ft and above with no issues, though I would run 50/50 with AV above 10 and up to 12 lbs. I would look at a fueling issue on boost as to why your sled burnt up at that low boost with good fuel.
