What Was Your First Sled?

Thread Rating

There may have been similar posts of this in the past but I thought it would be fun to see everyones first sled they ever had! Here is the first sled I have ever had when I was 10 years old that started it all! My dad used to get so mad because I would blow like 2 belts every weekend and finally I had to start paying at 12 since I was working! Lol...This photo looks exactly like my first sled minus the backrest! Had a hard time getting through the powder but it loved to hit jumps and go across the lake at 62mph! I bet I had the only Ski-doo Safari Deluxe with 7.5" carbides on stock skis! Check out the "Ram Air"...Lol

1970 skidoo.
No suspension. It road like a log wagon, ran like crap and was a major pain in the but to keep running.

I was 7 when we got it.
Man I loved that sled. I would spend hours to get it running just to play for 30 minutes, have it break down and work a few more hours to get it running again.

81 arctic cat pantera.....got it for $30 in 97' or 98'. Ran like a top too. Just not much for the mountains!! Then got a 2000 summit. I am on sled number 5 now....including the 09 snowcheck

1969 Skidoo Alpine, twin track with a single ski in front 330 twin cyl. Bought it really, really used in 1976. Top speed around 15 mph. Then no sled from 1978 until late in the 2003 season I bought a 03 RX-1. In 06 I got a Skidoo Summit 600 SDI for the wife. Loved it so I sold the RX-1 and got an orphaned 07 Skidoo 800 XRS (Bad year), Now I got a 09 800 summit X 163(changed from a 154 at the last minute) on the way.

1975 Rupp 295.

ran like a champ for a number of years. In 1988, I sold it to my buddy, three weeks later his brothers put gas (the non-mixed kind) in it and the rest is history.

1978 John Deere Spitfire, That was one cool little sled. Went everywhere on that thing, I was about 13. After a year of riding I put a set of Wiseco pistons in it and it and that gave the sled a wicked power band. It would literally pull the skies off the snow. I have fond memories of that little sled, it’s in sled heaven for sure.

Rupp from the 70's and a 292 engine.

I will have to dig deep to find a photo of it that's in digital format. It was ugly. The first real sled was a 1980 Enticer 250.
