what turbo

The best one I've seen is a twisted setup. Why? Because it didn't snap belts during the ride. I've seen 1000's from all turbo manufactures work good. I almost turboed my '09 1000 and I would have went with the Twisted turbo. I currently have an OVS M8 and it works good. I've been with an OVS M1000 but it would snap the belt at will.

I think they are all great kits, just depends on the install. Twisted has a lot of 1000 kits out there and I think he has the most seat time on them as well. I'll stand to be corrected, but from my personal experience, the Twisted setup has a good track record.

I love my twisted kit it rocks pulls hard and runs well and Shane's customer service has been great.

What fuel control box do they use and do you have to adjust it much? I am new to the turbo seen but I am very good at clutching and set ups for piped sled just don't know what to expect from turbo's. When you talk to them at twisted are they straight foward about everything no hidden things about turbo's that I won't know to ask? One more thing when you say the others snap belts why is that? Thanks for the info

I have never heard of them snapping belts the group I ride with we have 3 m1000 soon to be 4 and none of them are belt eaters for that matter, 1 boondocker and 2 twisted and on soon to be Cutler kit, Belt life seems to me to be better than on a stock sled for some reason I have put well over 500 miles on my belt on the sled now and still looks new I do believe if you try to run them fast down the road say over 90 you will blow the belt off the secondary for sure but that is not why I got a turbo it is to go up stuff that is just not doable on a stock sled. Attitude box is what I have, I do have to play with it a bit but not to bad pretty much watch you AF gage and get your #'s ware you want them and leave it alone the grin factor is priceless on a turbo M1000 you will come home with sore arms.

HCM are they still fun in the tree's? I like to boondock in the tree's and climb hills so I am on and off the throttle alot. How do they compere to a piped m1000 doing that type of ridding? What turbo work the best in your group and why? I am trying to find the best kit to buy for next year. Thanks for your input.

I am in the same boat, considering putting a turbo on my 1000. Have been around a few TM8's but havn't been around a 1000 yet.

A friend of mine has a bd pg kit and it runs good after the latest updates. I would go twisted, its the most basic kit, everything makes sense in the way its done and shane has more time on them than anyone to my knowledge. Just do what he recommends and you should be good. If your going to do it go all out, get the xtreme rg kit. The torque makes it a blast in the trees its easier to tree ride than any other sled I have been around, but thats my opinion and I love the 1000. I have a Tm8 but I think its going to get sold so I can get a new one and maybe turbo my 1000.

Wyoboy I have rode the new pro climbs and I am not impressed. Love the power of the new 4stroke turbo but not as fun to ride as my M1000. So I am thinking of turboing my m1000 but I still want it to be fun to boondock with. How do you think turbo sled compares to a piped m1000 for boondocking in the trees?

Look at the OVS TIAL kit its performance is much better then the others. Little more cost but its worth it in my book. I ride with 4-5 other guys and none of them belt snapping problems!

J Dog they are a hoot to ride not to bad in the trees but not like a stocker they can get you out of a bad spot so fast and in to another in a blink of an eye. and for hill climbing the 1000 flat out does that been around some other turbo 800's and they just don't get it done like the 1000 ya they have better bottom end witch you learn how to ride the 1000 and it will be fine, you just cant jack the gas a bunch or you can get it to load up keep nice and easy on the gas and hold on for the most part, just like last weekend the tracks on all the hills were a couple hundred yards up the hill and that was it in every hole or bowl we went in 2 1/2 to 3 feet of wet powder and 70 mile an hour track speed gets it done blow out the top if you can hold on long enough with out hitting any thing to slow you down. Like I said love the power and love the sled. worth every Penney.

After riding pretty much everything but the pro-climb I would take the Tm1000 over them all, and way before any stocker in the trees (steep tight terrain) The piped m1000's can't even do what I can on my Tm8 at 6lbs. Its all about setup ie clutching and suspension. Twisted just makes more sense, they remove stuff thats not needed and don't add extra problems like some do. Tried and proven. Pretty sure the others have caught up by now and there is a possibility you might be able to gain soemthing from one kit to the next, but what I like is one that works everytime and has the least amount of stuff on it to go wrong, if it ever did. If you like boonedocking you dont need big boost, its just nice to have, I usually run 6-7lbs on my m8 with straight pumpgas and the way I ride more boost will rarely help, I just carry a couple gallons of rg on the back just in case I might want it, haven't used it in 300miles. A pg tm1000 will throttle my tm8 too. The low end power in the trees of the Tm1000is awesome.

All us m1000 owner should see if twisted will cut us a deal if we all buy at once. Pretty sure I will be doing it within the next year. maybe sooner if someone wants my TM8
