What to put in the Dragon

My second engine went down after 500 miles. I'm not going to do the bitching thing I just want to what can I put in this Dragon besides another stock Polaris motor? Any idea's would be greatly appreciated.

What happened to both when the engines burned down and what year is the sled?

Have you considered a 2010 engine or using 2010 cylinders with "The Fix Kit" from Mtn Tech Performance? Is the short block still good?

I put this in my 08 Dragon a couple of seasons ago and it is still running great. It has not only stayed together, but I'm almost positive it pulls harder now than when it was new. lol. EW

I have a motor plate do a direct bolt in for the 800 bb style motor if you want to do one of those motors it isnt to bad to install. You could do a carbed 800 or a 910 struthers.

2008 800 Dragon first motor 1000 miles bone stock,crack cylinders, piston skirts broke off, hole in case, broken crank warranty motor put in by dealer. 2nd motor power commander V with Dynotech stock mapping and the gizmo 500 miles went down operating at 147 degrees piston skirts broken off, dime size hole in bottom of block, broken crank, cylinders look ok.
Can block be fixed?

I have seen guys weld them...if it was me, i would buy a 10 block, crank and cylinder, then do the pms kit on it...and ride it...change pistons every 1000 miles and enjoy...a bigblock will cost as much or more to install in there(unless you have a perfect motor sitting there already)....

147 degrees is pretty warm IMO. I run my Dragon at 130 and the scratchers go down if it is warmer than 135. The pistons slapping in the cylinders will eventually break one of the pistons skirts.Gizmo or Power Commander won't prevent that from happening

Give Shawn at MTNTK Performance (208-652-7738) to ask any questions specific to your engine and what you will needto Fix it. If the cylinders are still good then hone them w/ a rigid hone to seat the rings.

My sled is still running but I'm going with "The Fix" to make sure it is good for next season. They look good thru the Y-pipe but I'm betting they are scuffed on the skirts after 400 plus miles on the Polaris update.

Take a look a stock 08-10 piston pulled from a blown engine and most of them are scuffed or have a broken skirt that caused the engine to blow.

I have a new 2010 crank and case for sale in the swapmeet if anyone is interested. I also have a 2010 cyl that needs renicd.

The 860 solves all issues, back to separate cylinders and great power as well, downside is cost.
I would also think hard about a nice turbo 700..good motor good power

My buddie's 860 just blew up. We haven't torn it apart yet but when that happens I will post up what happend. This could also be due to him not changing the fuel filter. He is still running the original with 3500 miles on it. I am leaning toward that as the problem.

Well 3500 miles with little to no maintence is amazing on a near 200 hp mod motor actually. I usually change pistons and check everything at about 1000-1500 miles, cheap insurance

Good Call. I know when we were running 860's, (CFI's) Carls recommended new pistons every 1,500 miles. Wiesco's

If I had to start from scratch, I think I would be looking real hard at the Suzuki motor that cat is using. Big HP and very reliable. Or just cut your losses and move on to something else. These things have a way of shrinking your bank account.

I agree completely, and think he is going to find a lean burn down due to the filter, not the kits fault. 3500 mountain miles and this is his first problem ever.
