What to expect broke in motor

Having trouble finding similar symptoms on here. Riding back to the truck today sled started making a clicking sound like there was something caught in a belt or track. Stopped the sled, found nothing, restarted and was good for a few minutes. Then it made the sound again and when I stopped and it killed the motor (not me). Something is causing excess friction in the motor and killing it at idle. No it's not the clutch. Giving enough throttle to keep it alive I was able to ride home and it even seemed to run alright in higher rpm, but something is wrong in the engine. Turning clutch by hand it seems to have good compression and i don't hear anything suspicious. Sound familiar to anyone? I know I need to pull the engine apart to really know, but I'm wondering if anyone has a place to start. 2016 800 rmk

How many miles on the sled ? Hard to say, but if high milage it could be PTO bearing could be going on crank.
