What to do?

I have a 09 dragon with about 1000 miles on it and is totally stock. It has the '10 update with pistons and head. Sled has been pretty good for me until this weekend. heading up the trail, on and off the throttle trying to keep the engine in good shape. When all of a sudden a gurggle and then nothing. Sled dies, we end up towing it out. Upon tear down see some scuffing on pistons which was expected. But also had a pto side rod bearing go. Guy I have working on the sled suggest we buy a new short block rebuild from CV tech. My concern is that this only returns us back to stock and am I going to have piston issues again.
Would rather rebuild it so I don't have a ticking time bomb. Any other suggestions? I have seriously looked at the Fix but can only buy full engine and don't want to pay for two sets of pistons. Any thoughts or recommendation, thanks

IMO, fix your lowerend and buy the fix kit. Thats going to cheaper than buying a new motor... Look into getting a PC5 and carry a spare volt reg. Heck, you could do all the above for cheaper than a new motor...

the motor is a rebuilt and only about $2200. I was quoted almost that much for the crankshaft alone

other problem is that I cannot get a hold of a fix kit. pms is out and said they are up to 3 weeks out before they get more.

IMO no on the pcv, have carl's make it an 860. All those problems and worries Poo had in those yrs. would be gone.

Do you have any idea what your oil usage (oil ratio) has been?

not sure what the oil usage is, I have been a little concerned since I heard the bearing went as well. Something I will have to check.

Was thinking about the 860 kit but not enough coin to do it at almost $4000 plus my crank issue.
