What to do with my spare motor??

I had a crank seal go out on my 2016 800 which caused the bearings to wipe the cases. Dealer said it was cheaper to get the entire engine vs replacing the cases. Warranty company agreed and I ended up with a brand new motor.

They let me keep the old one. Thing was running just fine when I brought it in. Only brought it in as there was oil everywhere. Pistons are fine, cylinders, head, rods, crank, etc are fine. Cases don't look that bad to me seems like they'd be fixable.

So I've been pondering what to do with it. Put it together for an emergency spare when on trips? Send it to BMP for big bore? Part it out?

Thoughts?

Lol, if you run a 2 stroke of any brand you will eventually need a spare or rebuild.

Why the denial in your reply? Fact is, polaris motors go down more than the others. Seems like the list of 850s going down grows every day. The other brands offer double the miles easy, before a failure, or needing a refresh.

Part it out, you will get double what you will get if you fix and sell it. And probably shouldn't post that your dealer let you keep it, that is a no-no. Warranty parts are supposed to sit on a shelf for 3 months to see if Poo wants them back, then they are supposed to be destroyed/tossed. Not put back into circulation. Seriously, I am sure that Poo is on here a bunch, I would get rid of this post completely. Dealer could get into trouble.

I don't know where you're located but if you're anywhere near WA I might be interested in buying it

Judging by how it was worded I'm guessing it was an aftermarket warranty and not a factory Polaris warranty
