what to do with m8

If it was my sled i would go with a Garret 2871 , and Sunoco . Or maybe just a Y pipe and can . Boost is going to be the biggest gain per dollar . My stuff is stock , untill it gets a Garret. 280 HP for your 8 , for about 7 K .

i have a 09 M8 and put the slp single pipe set up on with the black diamond air box, i have run with everything except turbos, even m1000 stock (actually beat it)

only issue i have is i go through belts quite often 4 last year, my 07m8 has the original still on it.

i heard the m1000 belt is something i should put on it, harder compound or something, anyone had these issues and know the cure?

the dealer checked the alignment and said it looks good, as i side note i thought maybe the heat was the ultimate factor so installed the 2cool air vents no differnce, i cant imagine i ride it to hard.....

any ideas?

also if anyone is running the same pipe and box did you do any clutching?
i left mine stock and it seems to be good, tried a couple different helix on the mountain and the stock set up seemed to pull harder and shift quite well, one complaint i would have it seems with the stock setup on a long pull it tries to pull like it is in 5th gear when it should be in fourth, but my rpm is still around 7800-8100 at this point....

feedback is welcome

^^^This where your heat is coming from and your belt damage!

Look into a clutch kit for your sled. Or at least a shift assist bearing in the secondary. Sounds like your primary is slipping too. A new stiffer primary spring would be my guess.

slp or sw pipe set will make them run like most stock m1's less the weight, port and pipe with head and fuel controller it will stomp a stock m1000 and run with a m1 with y and can but not quite a full piped m1, a pg m8 is a blast, not a gob of power but it pulls like a piped m1, but just never slows down as the hill gets steeper where the m1 would. A rg tm8 is awsome.

Clutching is key on any sled stock or not.
A heavier spring would raise your rpm. you need to determine whats slipping

thanks ACMtnCat, i will see what slp and cutlers is suggestiong for my package i have.

on a side note i have been looking at the posts about turbos, seems everyone has an opinion, clearly it sounds that if you are going to do this you might as well go with the race gas setup, the pg is just a teaser if i am reading all this input correctly.

now the big question is why would i want a twisted turbo set up over a boondocker setup or vice versa????
im not to educated on this but keep in my mind i have the slp pipe already so if i can or should incorporate it in with a turbo setup which setup would be the logical choice???

a turbo is in my future maybe not this year but for sure next year, also is it transferrable, form 09m8 to say 10m8 with the new motor?

A couple things going on here....WyoBoy, There is a big difference between the Pg M8 and a piped 1000. I know, I know...snowest says it isn't so but snowest doesn't always know. Remember that some of the people saying the BB with stomp a turbo make their living selling BB's and N/A sled products. They are very different and in very limited situations you may see a BB shine but turbo makers are selling a ton of turbos for a reason and its not because a BB kit that's half the price works better and makes more power. I don't want to start another pissing match but go ride them both and see for yourself.

As Far as turbo kits go, there are a lot of good choices. Twisted, Boondocker and CPC all make good kits. Most people will promote what they ride. ACMtnCat, I know the experience you guys had with hatchers kit last year was pretty rough but he also had an old kit without all of the updates that have been made in the last couple years. I agree, I wouldn't have had a BD kit from that era, but things have changed. There are a lot of people that had flawless Boondocker kits last year, many of those people are on the forum. I'm not taking anything from the Twisted or CPC kits, they both run well. I went with Boondocker because of their boxes and electronics, IMO they are superior to the Attitude box that both Twisted and CPC use. Run what you want and I'm sure what ever kit you chose you'll be impressed. FYI, there's a pretty good deal on a new CPC RG Kit in the swap.

I'd put an AMP 2" bar riser and the BDX VSB bar repair kit on and an AMP Gauge Cage on your sled. It really let's the heat escape from under the hood.

I added the Cat powder deflectors for the rear of the tunnel. It keeps the Powerclaw from depositing a bunch of snow on the rear portion of your running boards.

Take off your Fox Floats and send them to Andy Lundstrom at Gas Shock Repair. For about $100 he'll make your floats actually work.

You could lower the front bolts on your rear skid to the lowest hole in the tunnel. It supposedly lightens up the front end of the sled and makes it super flickable. That will go well with your new Powder Pro skis that tend to be a bit too dart on the trail but awesome in the powder.

You may want a skid plate? Most on here don't seem to use or think they need one until they wished they had one.

Ok, I'll stop...... for now.

I have been turning a blind eye to turbo in the past. They don't match my riding style but, I'm warming up to them now that there are 3-4 good ones to choose from these days.

The CPC turbo kits for this year are looking to be TOP NOTCH! Dale has a new fuel pump that he designed and also has a new BOV both should be really trick. There is no question his kit is SUPER tight and clean looking. AND I really like the fresh air idea!:beer;

To ME the Twisted kits look to be the most simple one to install and maintain by my self, rather then drop it off at the dealer to figure out what is wrong IF it does go wrong. And there is no question that Shane has the customer service that I want! Not to mention Shane's prices are GREAT!

The Boondocker kit from a year ago was not what I want! The style just was not there and not just on Hatchers sled but others I saw. I'll be looking at the new version very very closely at the snow show FO SHO!:D

I'm looking at RG 1000 kits turned down to run pump gas most of the time! My CPC M8 will RIP as is another year I think!

I figured I'd get nailed on that, let me clarify. The m1000 keeps up out of the hole but the m8 seems to have 20-30% more go up a hill but if you are making tight turns and have to back out of the throttle and your only in it for a few seconds at a time theres not much "noticeable" difference, unless you put them side by side, and I am not by any means comparing a NA sled to a turbo, I am going off of personal experience with a bd pg m8 that was tuned well, not what snowest says. Like I said, where the m1000 starts to peter out the m8 keeps pulling and pulling.
