What to do with a 2009 M8 sp

I own a polaris d7 with pipe, can, airbox, reeds, clutching, and porting and nowe have decided to switch ships over to Arctic cat and am going to the snow show in abbotsford this weekend to look at a m8 sp 153. I am curious what to do with this sled i know i am gunna put on cpc twins speedwerx intake, 2 inch risers, and a billet head but, what are other good ideas for this sled I am more of a boondocker/ freerider. What are the best ideas for my clutching and any other things i should look into for this sled in suspension change and i am buying the sled in the crate to do it myself so what would be the best setup along the lines of shock psi. I weigh in at about 205lbs with gear and 6'1. Any inout would be great thanx.:beer;
 
It looks like you have a pretty good set up going already, I would say just ride it.
 
I would go with the slp single pipe kit. Much easier to tune and run great. As far as clutching go with an RKT secondary. I would also look into side panel vents to keep the clutches/belt cool.

What he said, but would add STM valves simply for the reliability factor. Better then the stockers in terms of reliability...
 
I have thought of the slp pipe but i wouldnt bother tuning it a bit to get a few xtra ponies and about the risers i stood on a sp before and i felt like i need the extra two inchs just for a few inchs and ill fell more comfy with that but would porting be a good idea
 
All the cash$ you are going to spend on all of that stuff is going to get you a very small increase in power . That is if you dont screw it up , i guess you are an expert at tunning . Twin pipes are famous for being a pain in the *** to tune day after day.

I would suggest you save the pile of cash that you would spend on that small power boost , and save up for a Twisted Turbo. Nothing can compare with building your own air , thin air will KILL your power the higher you go . The only thing that will change that is a turbo , a pump gas kit is around 4200.00 . How much are you spending on a SMALL increase ?:beer;
 
well i got about a $2500 budget on upgrades and im not some expert im only 17 in a few weeks but three riding partners have twin pipes on there m7 and their sleds are great and they know how to tune it so they can help to but im not sure yet

Save your 2500.00 , you are only 1500.00 away from real power . Just think about this . A pump gas turbo will make more power than the stock sled at sea level , but it will do that at 12,000 feet . SAVE YOUR CASH!!
 
Do the turbos have good throttle response and can they take a beating because i work my sled pretty hard and i heard turbos cant take too much of a beating or is that false
 
Call Shain at Twisted Turbo's , dont waste 2500.00 on garbage . I bought his Race gas kit for my M8 and i am very happy . Dan Davidoff " the Crazy Canadian is running one of Shain's kits this year . Forced air is the only way to go .

if your going for bolt-ons its usually ideal not to mix/match, clutching will verry from what you end up with for an engine setup but get a secondary kit from someone cutler rkt whoever. and for ballpark just primary adjust your weights for your requiered rpm of your engine setup. if your gonna port match the porting with your pipe manufacture. they go hand in hand in a good setup. if your more of a boondocker maybe tune towards a broad power for flick of the throttle response. whitchever way you get there have fun
 
Why do you want a new sled already. I would just put some more money in your dragon. Light weight hood, new front susp, and rear, maybe a nitrous kit.
 
Man those cpc's must really have something on the slp twins, I ran the twins on my M-7 right out of the showroom didn't know what the single felt like for a year. Twins started acting up went to the single and still running it, would probably put the twins on only on days when were riding the point and squeeze stuff but for riding in the trees I like the bottom end of the single. Also I don't know if you have to run a fuel controller on the new ones or not but those can be a treat :rolleyes: Just my .02 but I would want to see what that thing will do out of the box before I made adjustments, but I'm w/Dano save a little more $ and get boost even if it's pumpgas better $ spent.

Well i got about 2300 miles on my dragon and it time to put her aside great sled but i might aswell get a great reliable sled this year because i have heard the arctic cat and polaris are coming out with new chassis for 2010 and im guna wait til the 2nd or 3rd year of the chassis so all the bugs they might have will be worked out but im not saying my dragon isnt reliable i just want to have a good all around sled that makes great hp for what i am doing for now and the next sled will be maybe a turbo
 
O8 D7 155' with a few goodies wait...That is my old sled now
Soon to have 09 M9 SP cpc twins, billet head, intake, clutching

Hahaha well actually my dad just went halfers on my d7 since that was the first sled I bought on my own and now i have to pay for all my new toys and upgrades. And I work my arse off to get my money but my parents are cool to let me do what i want with my sledds so thats the good part because they know I love to snowmobile more than anything. And the best part is im not some kid trying to bash every one i just want good opions on what i should do with my sledd
 
personally - i'd wait to put a pipe on your M8 until you ride it a bit - sucks not know if you gained any power or not. i spent a lot of time on three M7s over the last three years - all 153", one stock, one with SLP twins, head, etc, and one a 900cc big bore. I doubt i'll ever run twins again, and yes i can tune and clutch - i had the most fun on that sled though when it was running tops, but the stocker i rode on occasion was still a blast of sled, and the big bore mod was just that, a big bore mod - lots of wrenching. Sounds like you live in BC where the POW is deep and HEAVY - that equals a poop load of heat under the hood with twins, and even though i never melted a thing on M7 with twins - which ran hard - it was a finiky little biotch when the pow was handle bar deep. i recommend the SLP single setup as you will gain power and loose weight. When you have the money - sell the SLP setup and buy your turbo.
