what to buy? & when

I need help in a problem i'm having. My friends are going to revy Feb 20 th and I have small track envy. I have an 02' 800 renegade 136 by 1.25 track. Most of my riding is flat land and any hills and powder I can find. I ride 80% of the time with my family. My question is should I rent for 3/4 days @ $300-$330/day or should I long track my 800? I would go to a 151 by 2" - 2.5" track. About $1200 on rental or about $2000 on upgrades on my sled. I almost snow checked a new 154 x xp 800. Glad I waited!!! Do I buy a new doo or yamaha? Should I wait on the new machines until next fall? Any opinions will help me out. Buy the way I live in norhern alberta. Thanks for your time.

Revy is a massive riding area well known for its steep terrain and deep powder

Your current ride would not cut it...unless you just want to ride to and from the cabin and stay the few groomed trails that take you in or out of the real riding areas... NOT what people go to Revy for.

If you had a super cool buddy with a 151 x 2" or similar he may be willing to loan or rent you his ride for a lot less than $350/day. If not...then consider what type of riding is in your future and is it worth converting your current sled. You may be able to buy some used parts and a gently used track ...and do the conversion for much less than $2000.

Just an idea..

Whatever you decide...DO NOT MISS GOING TO REVY.....

thanks revneck.
MY buddy has a yamaha turbo & a M 1000 both have riders. A couple of cats, yamahas, and poos will be there also with riders. Considered new used but I'm not sure what to spend money on? Rent and wait for 09s?

Sounds like you have some great riding buds with some serious mountain machines...definitely what is needed for Revy. Hate to see a guy pi$$ away all that dough renting a machine to keep pace riding for a few days, but the new technology also blows away what was built 5-6 years ago.

I bought the 800 XP 154...and its working un-believable...rent one if you can...and also try out your buddies machines...then decide
