What to ask for it?

Am going to be selling my sled to my cousin in a couple months (when he's done digging potatoes basically). We've been trading things back and forth over the last year as he's slowly building me a decked out AR-15. The final parts for the AR will be partial trade for my sled.

My question is, what's my sled worth, and do you cut a cousin (pretty close to brother status) a good deal, especially when he's doing you a nice favor in building a nice rifle?

Bone stock 2005 M7 Limited 162 w/ 1100 miles. Ridden hard, put up wet, but in awesome shape. Still running the stock belt even.

Trade-in: $3585

Retail: $5215

I was thinking going a little more than in the middle, like $4800...take roughly $1000 off that for the upper of my rifle, and call it a deal.

Decent deal for both parties?

I would say that wouldn't be too bad, if its in the stellar shape you say.

The best way to know since he is dang near your bro, is to ask him, if that sounds good.

If you show him the trade in and retail sale of the sled like you did here, and apply that to your sled, it should check out to be a good deal for the both of ya.

just don't sway too far where your unhappy about the deal.

I don't know much about the market for M sleds, but I think that might even be a little bit high. Not even a dealer will be able to sell a used sled in this day for full retail, so only dropping $400 off that is a little steep IMO before giving him your credited 'bro' discount...

IDK, just my $.02

I was watching a couple in swap meet and I think your #s are right on as for low end and top end. 4500 4800 would seem fair specially if its in good condition.

I know you said he is putting together your AR-15. What has he done to it. And how long did it take him to do it? I agree with the guys above though. If your not going to walk away feeling good then it is not a good deal.

He bought all the parts and is doing all the assembly. I'm relying on him to buy me quality stuff based off what I want. He likes doing it, so I'm letting him. So far, just a lower, stock, and Jewell trigger...nothing fancy. The upper and barrel are going to be the good parts. Looking for sub .500" at 100 yds off a bench...by no means impossible. Oh, it's going to be a .204 too. I think with mine included he has something like 9 lowers and two fully built AR's now. :)

After y'all's input, I'm thinking $4500 will probably be satisfactory for both of us. I don't need to sell it, but I don't need the sled either...he gets a good deal, I get a good deal, we're both happy.

BTW, I know you all know how family deals work...if he feels he got the shaft, stand-by for the wrath of the rest of the family.

Not a good deal for him 3500 4000 tops he could find an m8 for 5000 or a little less. I sold my m7 over a year ago for 3500 with a bunch of mods but it had a lot of miles.

With 1100 miles, a 05 for 4,800? ouch!
I wouldnt touch that sled for anything more then 4,200.
I'd feel guilty selling it to my brother for that much.

Just for comparison.....I've got an 06 m7 that shows a little wear but runs awsome. Fresh top end last season. I am going to let it go for3800.00 to 4000.00 here in a month or so.

thanks for the input. This is why I'm asking.

BigHoe, the one you put up for comparison is a 153 and not a Limited. Just saying.

I have looked for a year for the "right" M7 for my son, so I have seen a lot of different prices. I ended up buying a 2006 M7 153 with less than 300 miles and is in mint condition. It came with a cover, new belt, and a Boss seat. I paid $4500. He had been advertising it for $5000 since last spring and had not sold it. So, $4500 is a bit high for your sled in my opinion....

I'd say that $4500 minus your bros discount of $1000 for his time and work isn't too bad...

$3500 and a built gun, sounds reasonable... bounce the idea off of him and see what he thinks... every deal requires negotiation till everyone is happy, but I think you have a decent starting point now..
