SPI has some kit for these too now?
I held off of making these for years in assumption that someone else would be jumping on this, and no-one ever did. I had built a few units many yrs ago for myself and a cpl others, but never tried to make and sell them.
Finally I decide that no-one else is gunna, and I was git'n tired of hearing folks fuss about it - so I started to market them. Next thing I know - some feller in Ontario has some fancy thing with flames and all on it
face-icon-small-con) and now SPI has something? Good grief!
Yes - I have alum housings as well as a much improved pawl. I have had one on my sled for many yrs, with no failures yet.
A link to the website is in my sig line I think? Or also by clicking my name above as well I think.
Pic shows the original 4 bolt pattern, but that has recently been updated to a 16 bolt hole version. I will update the pic soon. More on this in another thread.
With the zx you should always ride with a pull strap just in case the recoil goes caput way back in the woods.
Many yrs ago me and a chumm found a group of guys at the Snowies one day that had left at least one sled idling at the top of the hill. There were 2 sleds parked there, and at least one was running. No-one around. I have melted a piston from letting a sled sit and idle too long once when I forgot one outside after getting distracted from a phone call or something. So I was SO tempted to shut it off for him, but it finally dawned on me why he left it run. Yep - when we found them - he left it run b/c of the recoil. (We ended up helping them git a sled down the hill safely that was in the trees)
I don't know how the motor survived the day. I bet it idled for 1-1/2 hrs?
Not 100% sure that it wasn't a rental. ???
Yes - there is a cord in the tool kit to pull over the motor via the clutch in the event that your recoil dies. And if you don't have your kit - you could cut the rope off of your recoil and use that. A warm motor starts easilly. Just remember to pull ALL THE WAY clear of the clutch. No short blips here!
