what size turbo good for 15+psi on apex

im looking for a turbo size that can push out 15psi or more. im building a turbo apex and cant afford a kit so im building my own. im looking for a journal bearing turbo that can be reliable at or above 15psi. my build will consist of either je 9:1 pistons or the 9:1 jead shim, stronger valve springs, new valves,etc... my tapex will be a pump gas as vp or sunoco is like $8 a gallon here and simply cant afford it. i was thinking mabe a t3/t4 with external wastegate. but not sure anybody has ran them.thanks for all the help

if you wanna roll journal, the 16g can those boost levels all day long..

as for motor, throw as shim in and you should be good to 18# motor wise.

If you want a relatively cheap turbo, I would go with a Mitsubishi EVO III 16g. They can be purchased for around $600 new, and a lot cheaper used. Guys in the DSM world run these turbos at 20+ psi for years. Check out extremepsi.com for a good deal on one of these turbos.

ya i looked them up on ksl.com and i can get a nice used one for like $100 ill check out that site. first i have to get a new piston, rod bearing, new valves. would i be able to run pump(91)gas with head shim at 17psi? also were can i get a turbo header? i was thinking bout getting the mits. exhaust manifold and modifing it but not sure, thanks for all the help

You would have to be way up elevation wise to push that on pump, or you will most likely be needing some more rods bearings etc. How much you can run will ultimately be deturmined by how well your header and charge cooler work. 12-14 would be more realistic in my opinion. Julio
