well, i'm tired of my shop pressing in the A-arm ball joints upside down. will a one ton arbor press get the job done? i'd still likely use lite heat on the arms and freeze the ball to help out.

what are you using for a press?

Drop the coin and get a hydraulic press instead. You will use it more than you think. I use mine all the time. I have 25 ton Omega. Good for most projects. I bolted casters on bottom so its free standing and easy to wheel around.

Right?
For less than $200 I don’t know if I own a more useful tool. I feel blessed each time e I don’t have to pay $65 min charge for things I can do now

Agree with the hydraulic press. Most automotive wheel bearings press out before the gauge even hits 5 ton (we have a 25 ton at dealership), in my opinion a 10-12 ton press would probably be good for a home garage.

I bought a 12 ton from HF on sale maybe 15 years ago for $120. I use it to compress the clutches for tear down, press bearings for the sled, my Bronco, etc. I'm likely going to get a SWAG press brake for it someday so I can bend thicker pieces of metal too.

A press is very handy. A real good quality vice works good for removing and pressing ball joints also.

My 20 ton harbor freight hydraulic press was all of $150 just go hydraulic you won’t regret it

12 ton hydraulic press, pitch the hand operated bottle jack and add an air over hydraulic bottle jack.
Build a 20-24” tall base with casters. (No more bending over)

It becomes your favorite tool.

Bearings, bushings, Drivers, straightening rails, clutch work, add a bending brake for fab projects etc.

maybe something like this 12 ton could work? seems like a good price for under $130 shipped
