The problem; Shifting out to fast, Tachs 8900 out of the hole, falls to 7800 then slowly starts to climb back up.

The sled; 2000 Zx chassie, 809 triple, Jaws pipes, 162x16x2, 21/45 gears.
Primary setup; HRP quad cam; 10-54 weights, 150/340 spring
Secondary; Ski-doo button (non-RER) 53/42 helix beige spring in the tightest setting.

My question is should I go to a heavier spring, like a EPI orange (HD). Or should I go to a different helix, like a 38 or 40 deg. Please post what you would try & why... Thanks in advance, Josh

I will assume by that comment you max the clutch out on the trail, how about in the powder?

If your happy will that set-up, try a little taller gearing

By shifting out to fast I mean, Doesn't hold the R's thru the shift range. when I first pin it it tachs 8900 for a couple seconds then falls to 7800.

What about changing secondary spring? Go to a softer initial rate and a higher finish rate... put some more load on the motor by shifting it up faster to start but then bring the r's up by not letting it shift out as fast in the end. Heavier weights might help to but then u would have to change the primary spring as well (maybe stay with the initial rate at 150 but raise the final rate).
