Need a new set of scratchers, Any suggestions. Broke one of my holz on the first ride. Lookin at the cable ones whitefish has. Anyone use them yet? what kind of spray? do they stay in the loop when not needed?

thanks

If they broke on your first ride its cause they were instaled so they rub on the track or you backed up. With the sled jacked up put the scratchers down and if they touch the track you have a problem. We get years outa ours.

Scratchers that last

Summitseeker does some awesome scratchers--Got 2 seasons on them and going strong, showing no signs of wear--and they have lots of miles on them.

Just PM Summitseeker--He is fast on shipping and great to deal with.

+1 for Summitseeker. Got sets for mine and my daughter's sleds last year. Good quality, good guy to work with.

I have lots of "spring" style in stock with black or red anodized inserts. If you break one of mine after your first few rides, I will replace the springs at no charge. I am confident they won't break. If you saw what I rode over on Saturday, with my scratchers down, you would understand! LOL! I tested 6 different types of spring steel before producing mine and found a winner.

I am trying something a bit different for scratchers that weigh almost nothing and should be unbreakable. I put a Woodys carbide stud in the inside rear corners of each of my PowderHounds skis. I used 1.4" long studs and a aluminum stud backer washer. Sitting on the floor of the garage they don't touch the floor. Have heard this works really well. The cheapest studs I could find were Woody's Mega Bite at $39.95 for bag of 24 and $9.95 for a bag of 24 aluminum backer plates which can be used for raising or lowering the stud a bit to get it right, and also one for underneath the ski for the nut to go against. Still cheaper than anybody's scratchers and you can give some to a buddy if you want.

Pretty pleased with how it turned out, the two studs, two washers and nuts only weigh 3 oz, sure beats hanging a lb or two of steel cultivator springs off the rails.

Good Luck

And another one for Summitseeker (Over The Top). Me and all my friends run them with 0 problems. Good quality, great guy to work with.

+1 Summitseeker.....he has good scratchers and great customer service. I ordered another set late last week and got them today.:D:beer;

Mine were'nt hitting my track and my sled dont have reverse so thats not the cause. Only thing i was thinking is i ended up going over a few cattlegaurds about 70 MPH. broke about 4inches off one. Summitseeker you have pics or a website so i can get a look at them. Thinking about buying a set for my dad and stepmom for christmas also.

thanks

I have a buddy who broke a set, but I have had good luck with mine. Actually heated and rebent new tips on them when they got wore down to nothing, and still no problems.
