What RPM should i be seeing in climbs

Dyno results for 2012+ 800 have less midrange and has a narrower peak power band due to slight pipe differences this new setup favors over rev way more and dropping below 7900 rpm has severe hp loss, let these proclimbs scream

Got a graph to show this? There's a sweet spot somewhere, above & below are pissing power down the drain, but I can't find a SINGLE dyno for the 12 oddly enough. I find it very hard to believe that the slight changes to the 12 setup suddenly makes this motor prefer over-rev to under... (the laydown motors have all been the exact opposite, I'd need to see real data to believe that has suddenly changed.)

Yup. You guys missed the fact he has a pipe. But still. If its fading that bad there is something wrong.

Didn't miss it, is why I suggested fueling and pipe issues. Plug and play boxes sometimes don't work same on every machine. Without guages to check heat or A/F your only guessing and his problem may not have anything to do with clutching. Not all of these sleds have clutch issues. Put it back to stock if it does same thing then I would have dealer go over it, otherwise it is a modded machine with more variables thrown in.
Contacting SLP might help as well. They built the setup. Might still be clutching but overlooking everything else is a mistake.

Not sure where I saw it but I'm pretty sure the peak torque is at 7950, anything below that and your falling off hard. and I think anything over 8250 really falls off hard too. Sweet spot is around 8100, then if it falls off it falls into the peak torque and keeps pulling. I know mine pulls way harder (track speed proven) above 7950. I've been fighting it all year and when it hits 7800 I'm down over 5mph track speed, when I hit 7500 I'm down 7-8, last weekend it was really bad and I was down to 73-7400 and lucky to see 35mph when last year I was seeing well over 45 turning 8050-8150 with spikes of 8250 and never lower than 7900. Right or wrong its where my sled likes it.

For some reason SLP's dyno charts are always way high, which might be why some folks get bad information. That's a sales chart... not a dyno chart:face-icon-small-win

I don't want a chart anyhow, ideally I want a list that shows real numbers for each rpm.

I'd agree with the 7950-8100 though, that at least makes sense.

update

well, took the sled in and they found a bunch of ignition fault codes. had codes reset and went for a ride.......still only 7800 RPM but held RPM better in climbs and ran fine otherwise

went back to dealer to see if codes were back and they were. new wiring harness on order but wont be able to see if it helps till november now.

Thanks for input guys. I think i will go back to stock next fall and set a baseline performance on the sled then do one mod at a time from there

ECU change

I have 2 sleds both pc sp 162. 12 and a 13. My 12 eats my 13 but everyone says it should be the other way around. I tried everything including gearing and going down to 68 gr in the primary. 4000 ft hardpack hill 77-7800 rpm. I got fed up 3 weeks ago and pulled the ecu from my 12 and installed it in my 13. Holly crap intant 8200. Im back to 71.5 grams and pulling like crazy . It didnt show any codes or anything. It must have been retarding my timing or something. I never saw8000 rpm no matter what I did. Try a new ecu. PS I have heard of this now happening to a couple of people. Hope this helps.

I have been having issues since a dealer update, makes me wonder and not the first time after an update.

Any helix suggestions out there??

my dealer put on a 42/38 helix and said that lots of guys are running that with no problem....except i'm having a problem holding 8000 RPM

the stock is a straight 36 helix
SLP suggested the 36 and another close by dealer said they use 40/36

with a stocker I like to run 8200, that way if you ever hit a tough spot of you ever hit packed snow on a sidehill the engine will only pull down to 8-8100. If you clutch for 8050 and hit a hard spot it seems like it pulls down to 7600-7700 and that's no beunos. Big bore run 8100 as it can hold the rpm a lot better.

Also, with that SLP pipe you gotta let her SCREAM!! the guys that I ride with run there's at 8400 and they run really nice.

My .02 cents.

Straight 36 helix on mine.

That seems steep for a stocker, What elevation are you at. I ran the straight 36* with MDS weights at 3-5ft and it worked great.

I run a similar helix with light weights and different springs and it works pretty good. Launches hard off the hop and holds 8-8200 i ride typically 3-6000" just easier to dial in straight helix's but feel free to explore that's half the fun in clutching

for me down low i am usually spinning 8300sometimes more or less depending on snow. and it works awesome there, i can tell when the rpms down it doesnt seem to have the same kind of grunt. but thats my sled

Run SLP pipe this year on 13 162. Clutched it to 8200 - 8300 it rocked held revs consistently. 68 gram cutler adjustables geared down one tooth at 9-10k. The SLP pipe was well worth it. Stock we clutched for 8200 too, enough of us at pro limbs to compare, I lost a bet after getting numbers from dynotech and running 8000. Got my *** handed to me. Can't explain but they like the revs
