What problems are there with a 03 rev

i am thinking of buying an 03 rev 800 with 800 miles on it i am new to skidoo and dont know a whole lot about them just wondering what problems were had with that year of rev

I think the 03's had the beaver tail over the rear of the track. The Beaver Deleate was a popular fix to this and i'm sure you can find lots of info on that topic. 800 is way low miles if its clean go for it. Check the compresion on each jug and possibly watch the rings I think they were part of the pitted ring thing. Most rings were swapped out by skidoo.

i cant seem to find anything about the 03 but this one has already got a new 151 on it and i am getting it for 2000 not to bad that is if someone will buy my old one

Here's my best advice,

Go to www.dootalk.com and to the REV forum.
Search for 2003 REV Problems. You will get all the information you need (and a whole lot more that you don't want to hear)

I have an 03.5 Summit 800. Issues thus far:

- Engine has toasted 3 times, once ring, once piston clip, lost crank @ 5,000 miles
- Toasted 2 Primary clutches, due to sliding sheeve bushing coming out
- Nun bent easily
- Clutches (both) heat up like crazy. Aligned and balanced even.
- A-Arm mounts crack
- A-Arm bolts bend and get stuck in spacer
- Secondary clutch washer on backside broke (the one that retains the clips)
- Suspension rails tweak/bend
- Rear suspension arm snapped in two
- HPG shocks suck
- Fox shocks in rear had to be modified to fit
- DPM went bad
- Motor mounts break every season
- Recoil starter inner plastics needed replaced @ 5000 miles
- Carb boots crack and leak air
- Left hand warmer stopped working
- Rotor key replaced @ 6000 miles, should have sooner
- Throttle cable snapped @ 4,500 miles
- Mine floods really bad if I get stuck upside down in pow. 30+ pulls to start

I ran out of mean things to say about it. And even after riding all the other chassis new and old, the rev is still my favorite.

Oh yeah, my lightbulb burnt out. :(

buy it

for that price you should be getting a good deal
I would pull the head and put new rings on it they
had a flaking issue. put the double ring pistons in it
chenck the run out on the crank it should be fine
most let go by then if there was an issue
all sleds have their issues and quirks you
will love the sled
