What oil to run?

I've been running cat APV oil in my '04 800. I'm out of it now and the nearest dealer is 100+ miles away. The only dealer in town is a polaris dealer. They have the full synthetic polaris gold oil for $32/gallon. Would this be alright to use with my power valves?

My only other options are regular parts store/gas station stuff (castrol, pennzoil, etc). The nearest amsoil dealer is 50+ miles away, in the wrong direction from the riding, so that's not a great option, either.

I know 2 people who run the POO gold and have great luck with it in their sleds.(POO, CAT and CAT) just because of your same problem. i also know 3 guys who run the casterol snow, or what ever they call it and haven't had any problems so far with their power valves. The only person i know that has had problems is my buddy who seems like he switches oil about every fill.
the only oil that i've heard of having problems is the amsoil intercepter. i think thats the cheaper stuff. because it was looking like it didn't provide enough piston ring lube. but i haven't seen the problem with the dominator(the race oil) which has been working great in the DOO so far.

I doubt Intercepter has problems, first i've ever heard of it and I know a LOT of people run it. Dominator is only good for race sleds, basicly a sled that the motor is getting torn down all the time. Amsoil is great oil, and Intercepter is the oil they recommend for most sleds, can't see it having problems.

well i know dave knight lost rings on one side of his rev. and have seen 2 other sleds this year with the same problem on the intercepter oil. never said the amsoil was bad stuff but on the intercepter oil i've seen this problem repeatedly. i haven't seen it on the dominator. just throwing out what i have seen.

Call AMSOIL directly. They will ship whatever you order directly to your doorstep. If you plan on using a lot of it sign up as a preferred customer to get a discount. I run AMSOIL in everything I own and have never had any problems with it. If your sled is modded run the Dominator, mostly stock run Interceptor. Let me know if you have any questions.

Preferred membership is $10, you'll almost save that on buying just 1 gallon. With it Amsoil prices are very reasonable for synthetic.
