What map to run with this setup?

K i did some looking but can;t find any info on it. Just finished putting the fix kit with the 12.5 PA head on a 2010 dragon (my cousins sled). Sled is flashing the engine light and need restarted every 5 mins or so. Detonation i'm assuming. Mixed fuel in the tank now.

Sled has
FIX KIT
Power addiction 12.5 head
SLP Pipe/can
Timbersled intake
April 2010 flash.

Just wondering if anyone has experience with this setup and is running a map that works good.

I have the slp 70-216 map and the stoutner 157 map. Think either of these will run ok on an april 2010 flash and maybe get rid of the det? Or should we suck the mixed out and set it to ethanol mode and leave stock flash in? Doesnt really want to have to run av or race fuel with the head. Maybe just get a stock 2010 head and be done with it.

I'm assuming although it isn't listed, that you are running a PCV with this set-up?

If so, and based on your list of goodies, it is most likely the check engine light flashing a trouble code rather than det. I would count the number of flashes you are seeing and go from there. Unless you got some terrible quality of fuel, you should be able to run that set-up with 91 pump gas.

I would bet there is trouble code you are fighting.

Thats what we thought at first but its just a constant flash. Just keeps flashing constant until you shut it down and then restart. He has a PCV but isnt running it. Wherever he got his stuff from told him not to run it. I am thinking thats the problem. Its only got maybe 10 miles on the rebuild. Don;t want to drive it for fear of having to tear it down again.

I run the same head, pipe set with the FIX kit at 2500-5500', PCV, ethanol wires unplugged on an '09 Dragon. First tank of mixed fuel fouled 3 sets of plugs, to be expected I guess. I have two other MAPS that you could try. They are based off DynoTechs, Stoutner 162 and ChadO 161. The SLP 70-216 is a little rich in parts for me. I currently run a slightly modified ChadO161 (richer in spots). The machine runs flawlessly..power to spare. If you want these two MAPS, PM me with your email address and I will send them to you. For now, I would change plugs, hook up the PCV, unplug the ethanol wires and run the SLP 70-216 map for the tank of mixed gas. Run this setup with your next tank of clean fuel and see how it works. You do need to load these engines with as much weight in the clutch as you can...With the FIX kit and PA head it is even more important I have found. Good luck!!

Alright gonna try the slp 70-216 map and see if that fixes it up. Think its ok to use it on the april flash? They say not to but i read somewhere that the jan and april flash arent all that different and you can run the same flashes as the jan flash on the april flash. Any truth to that?

I would. There's not a whole lot of difference between those maps, mostly just a little tiny bit of fuel in the mid range. I guess I still find it very odd that you are having deto running the 2010 April Flash even without a PCV.

I would bring a set of heavier weights with you on your next ride or just throw a set in. The 800 CFI (Both the Dragon's and Pro's) WILL trigger the deto light if you are not loading the motor down enough and the fix kit with a better head will most likely need more weight.

I also find it hard to believe the deto is happening but thats what a constant flash means correct? I may have a set of 11-70 weights but thats the heaviest i've got. That's like a 72 gram 10 series weight. Think its enough? I have to run out to the dealer tommorow and pick up a set of weights and a new spring for my pro anyway so i could grab another set for my cousin. Pretty sure he has slp recommended clutching for the pipe in there now though. Maybe needs a couple more grams?

Just a FYI, watch the flashes carefully there may be a pause in it. A 5 flash trouble code (ex temp sensor) fooled me last week for a bit. I was thinking it was det also. It flashes fast and there is not a big pause. It finally dawned on me that it should quit flashing when it wasn't detonating as it wasn't in full deto protection where the engine won't rev up.

Just an update. Put the fuel controller back on with the 70-216 map. Turned the accel pump on. Unplugged the ethanol wires. Sled does not detonate anymore. Does have a bit of a bog but we are attributing that to all the oil in the system. Tried it with the wires plugged in and it gets rid of most of the bog. He is gonna ride it unplugged until he's through the mix tank and then see what works better on straight fuel. After that we may try the 162 stoutner map. Thought i had the 157 but turns out its the 162. Also have one labeled 161. Is that the chad map?
