What kind of motorcycle you have?

So I'm thinking of getting a motorcycle; seeing what everyone has and why they chose that particular model.

Post a pic too!

I had to sell it , to buy a house

but my last bike was a Harley Dyna Wide Glide, it was awesome. but i started with a 500 ninja, GSXR750, zx-7, zx-9R, R1, then a dyna low rider (too small), then the FXDWG. perfect fit. and will probably buy another FXDWG when I can afford it, been riding motorcycles since I was 5.

At what age do you think a person is to old for one of those sport bikes? As that's what I kind of like, but the wife says I'm to old (42) thus looking at a Harley in the Softail line.

It all started with a Rupp Roadster and then I graduated to the big time and moved up to the Honda SL 70. As far as i can tell this was the beginning of my life long addiction to "tinkering" as i removed the baffle from the exhaust and removed the foam from the airfilter because it sounded a little different and i thought it went faster. From there I want radical in 7th Grade to the Honda CR 125 and then completely lost it with the KZ 1000 after graduating and getting my first job. Of course this is all about 30 to 40 years ago.

Rupp made the coolest minibikes with a lawnmower motor. I believe they made the roadster, scrambler and the black widow. I noticed a scrambler was listed on craigslist recently and would've should've could've bought it but did not....... now kicking myself. I believe they were one of the first and only to use CVT technology on minibikes called their Torque Coverter 1 or TC1!

Currently have my eye on a beautiful WR 450 here for sale locally but have not yet figured out where I would live next if I buy it.

at age 42 living in Bozeman......I would go with a piece of american history and go with the Harley. If not, find a Rupp!!

Go High Fast, while reading your post I knew we were from the same era!
Remember the Hodaka Road Toad? or Wombat? or Combat Wombat?

For me it all started on a Kawasaki 75.
Long list of off road & street bikes.
Must have had my fill, as I haven't owned a bike since I was 21 or 22.
Rode a friends Ninja past a buck-fifty (what a rush!) & realized I did not have the self restraint to own a bike that I would actually want.

Grew up on the back of my dads bike. Never had a bike of my own growing up though. When I was 18 I secretly went and took the MSF safety class without telling my parents. When my parents found out they weren't happy, but said I couldn't afford to go out and get a bike. A few weeks later I had a 91' Ninja 600. Unfortunetly no pics.
That was replaced with a 89' Ninja 600.

I now ride a 08' Kawasaki Versys, that I have turned into poor mans BMW.

I went up the ladder also, 400cc to 600 to 750 to my Busa. The Hayabusa was the best bike I have owned to date. Not to cramped like my other sport bikes were, smooth enough for any type of riding yet scary fast when twisted to the stop. But, I enjoy all things 2 wheeled! If it gets you out on the road and makes you smile, buy it.

Mafesto, i remember Hodaka very well. In fact I am so old I remember a buddy of mine had an Ossa 250!!! Do you remember that one??

I did get an AARP application in the mail the other day....depressing!

I had one of the first Hadaka's to hit Idaho Falls back in 1964. If my memory serves me right it listed for just under $500.

Sherco 300- 140 pounds of rock climbing power.

It's been a long time ago, used to ride and compete with Bernie Schreiber (only North American to ever win World Championships), Marland Whaley and the other moto trials riders of that era.

I was 35 years old, and caught myself doing a wheelie down mainstreet in kalispell at about 80 MPh., with my R1, when i realized, WTF am i doing. that was a fast way to end up in trouble. then about 2 weeks later, i was pizzed at the hot 22 year old that i was banging. and caught myself doing about 100 mph in a mile long wheelie coming out of Whitefish. Pizzed off, then passed about 5-6 cars, next thing I know I'm doing 160mph, i looked down and realized, i was out of control. decided i needed to sell my bike immediatley, I sold it within 2-3 weeks, and said screw it. rode harley's ever since.

This particular post is useless without pictures.

When I was a kid (early 70's) in our dirt bike gang we had a hodaka dirt squit, a combat wombat, an AJS scrambler, ossa 250, canam 250 (tank) the first yz125 mono shock, in those days I had a 125 elsinor.

Started on Harley's in 82 with a 81 lowrider. 33 years latter I have never been without a Harley and am on lowrider #4.

Never cared what a guy rode, just ride.

On old dirt bikes - There is an Arcitic Cat dealer in Chiliwack called Clearbrook Cycles or there was in 2013 last time I was there. They have a collection of every dirt and street bike I ever saw or rode as a kid. If you are in the area drop in and go for a trip down memory lane.

Although I've been on sleds and quads for a number of years, I just got into the 2-wheel scene a little over a year ago. My first (and current) street bike is an '06 Kawasaki ZZR 600... it's been a great bike to learn on and still has some decent acceleration when you get the RPM above 10 grand. I think it's kind of funny that a fat guy like myself is riding around on a crotch rocket, but hey, it's fun and that's all that matters to me... Some day I would love to get on a bigger bike, but for now this 600 does put a smile on my face every time I twist the throttle! I'm not a speed freak, I just like the acceleration factor:face-icon-small-hap At the time I bought it, I liked the fact that it was lighter than my friend's 1000 and more forgiving in regards to throttle control, the 600 doesn't have the power to get you into trouble nearly as fast if you make a mistake, but unlike the smaller bikes, still has the acceleration and sound of a larger displacement machine... it's a nice all around size machine that you can have a lot of fun on. I've only taken it to 115 mph, but it had a lot of power left and was still accelerating hard... Like I said, I get my thrill from the acceleration, as opposed to top speed. If memory serves, I only took it to a measly 95mph in this vid below, before backing off.

Nice thing about the bike, it's narrow enough to pull over in a lot smaller places that you wouldn't be able to park at truck in when you see a 'photo opportunity'...... LOL
