I think all of us here on snow west like to think of our selves as stand up guys linked together with a common thread... the love of snowmobiling. heres a story to confirm that. I bought a machine here out of the swapmeet a pretty modded machine with a psi 995 motor (I know, I know risky at best) but Darren (aka dig 199) swore to me he had all the bugs worked out and "this machine rips". He seemed like a good guy so we agreed to a price and he drove up from Wyoming to the Canadian border (I'm from Edmonton) and I met him, paid cash since he drove so far...understandable. 1st time I rode it, it did rip....for about 10kms then booooooom broke the crank...clutch came right off sounded like a shot gun. I figured I'm screwed...paid cash...no warranty...got me a $5,500 paper weight. Called Darren, calmly relayed the story, knowing if I pissed him off he could tell me to go pound sand. I'm not sure what I expected when I called him ...couldn't hurt maybe he's got some extra parts. What he did next, I hope, is the way I would have handled it....He told me to ship the motor down to him and he would "take care of it". Well, I just got the motor back, new pto side all new bearings on the crank, two new pistons and a p85 clutch to replace the one that was damaged. HERES TO YA DARREN..ONE STAND UP GUY!!!!! Nice to know there are still people around that figure a hand shake and their word are more important than a buck.

That's how it should be done. I just sold an 07 Dragon to a fellow snowester, I told him "hold back a 1000.00 bucks, take it to the dealer when your happy with their report pay me the rest". Simple he just gave me a post dated cheque for the difference and I cashed it when he said all was well. Hell if their was something wrong with it I would have wanted to have it fixed and ready to rip for him anyway!! Sounds like a stand up guy your dealing with! Props to him:beer; Enjoy your new sled bro:)

Not as dramatic as a busted crank, but I want to recognize a couple other guys who are good to deal with.
Bought a track from Blue Light and sold one to LocknLoad. Both were very good to deal with.

Finally someone willing to take time to tell a great experience, thank you darren and may we all do business in this manner.

Great story. :beer;;) to Darren for being a big time stand up guy. BUT, and I may get flamed for this, I dont think he was obligated to do what he did. Should he have told you to pound sand? NO. Should you have shared the cost to fix it? Yes. When you buy something used you take risk that this may happen, thats why you didnt pay $7500 for the motor like he did. For the risk you take you get the smoking price. You should have offered to split the cost with him IMHO. But what a great guy to going all out for you and yes good on you for giving him props for what he did.

I agree he didn't have to do anything(thats kinda the point).... In trying to keep the focus on what Darren did I did'nt want to blow my own horn....but since you brought it up...and I like to think of myself as a pretty stand up guy as well, thats exactly what I did I paid him back for the pto side and the shipping, he took care of the labour.

That was what I was hoping to hear.
