What is this on my QD belt?

So I am selling my Pro to a buddy and I was going over it today and listing all the stuff I had added to the sled and looking for any problems I could fix before I sold it to him. I checked the QD belt for wear/damage and noticed what looked like some wear on the outside of the belt. On close examination it looks like the belt rubbed on something and had worn and frayed on the outside. On close examination it looks like the belt rubbed on something like a wire or something else plastic and it's just stuck to the outside of the belt. There is nothing close to the belt that could have rubbed and all the battery wires are ty wrapped away from the quick drive belt. Any ideas? Also, is that a crack in the brake disc? Is that a warranty item?

could be rubbing on the belly pan,its pretty tight down there.

X2, Dealer or you unknowingly may have run it while on one of the large tired dollies, the pads lift the sled right under the QD / chain case on both sides of the drive shaft. Flexing the fender into the belt.

As for the brake, it may or not be a crack, hard to tell from the photo. You should do a closer inspection ( see if it is just dirt or something) or run it by the dealer. If it is cracked and they don't / won't cover it with warranty, I've got an extra I can part with.

P.S. I'm still collecting more complete QD take offs (if any of you have yours off and collecting dust) that traded back to the chain case or CMX.

That's exactly what it is. Thanks. My sled was in the trailer and it was parked on the right. I couldn't see very well from that side. It looks and feels just like the plastic that the belly pan is made of. I need to let my buddy know to get some kind of guard on it. I don't think I have ever run my sled when it has been in the air but the dealer may have.

I also have an extra guard that came with one of the QD's I purchased if you want it. I don't remember who's it is but I can text you a pic if interested. As I won't be reinstalling it. For my builds I will therma-form some black UHMW or HDPE skid plates, so there are no snow sticking issues.

Sorry I didn't see this. I ams Ellington this sled to a buddy but I will recommend a guard to him. I like the idea of UHMW or other burly plastic for the same reasons as you. Is anyone making a good one? Thanks!

I have seen one, unfortunately I don't remember who makes it ( Fire & Ice? FTX?) Mine will have a lot more dish to them as it will need to accommodate my drop and roll on the drive side and the brake disc on the clutch side below the driven clutch. I have not built the forming dies yet, but will soon for my six builds.

we make a brace that is easily installed that keeps the belly pan from hitting the belt at fastrax

Just let it wear through....them it cant rub anymore and it gets the additional cooling. Sort of a hillbilly vent kit. Many guys are running this.:beer;:beer;
