when i bought mine, the dealer told me exactly what was in the owners manual - add some oil to the gas, run a full tank, slow-fast-slow.
Ya but a proper break in will yeild a more powerful and consistant engine.
Anyone hear about the track stand break in? Where they bring up to temp twice.

Break in for 09 nothing on 2010 I am sure do the same
1. The dealer must ensure the first tank of fuel is
premixed at a 100:1 fuel to oil ratio.
2. Check the coolant level and fill if necessary (see
Operator Manual or Service Manual for instructions).
3. Elevate the rear of the snowmobile on a secure,
shielded jack stand.
4. Slowly vary the engine RPM and throttle position
gradually from idle position to a maximum of
6000 RPM until the Coolant Temperature Warning
Icon stays constantly lit while making sure not to
exceed 6000 RPM. Continue varying the throttle
and RPM for an additional 1-2 minutes.
NOTE: Make sure to lubricate the slide rails with
water or other appropriate coolant/lubricant to prevent
melting of the wear strip.
5. Allow the engine to cool to ambient temperature
(at least 30 minutes).
NOTE: Repeat steps 2-5 at this point.
6. As part of the standard operating procedure, operate
the snowmobile during the first 1 to 2 miles
under 6500 RPM to properly warm the engine
prior to extended wide-open throttle use.

4. Hold on to handle bars tightly

My dealer told me not to mix the fuel 100-1 cause it causes carbon built up on the pistons and rings just splash a little oil in the first tank and ride it not easy but dont rod the piss out of it just to make sure that u get it good and warm before running it too hard
Do you believe your dealer or the guys that built the sled?
MMsports is correct I talked to A.C. today and they said that the 2009 break in procedure is not necessary for the 2010 but it is recommended. So I would tend to believe the guy who engineered the engine.

X2 I spoke with Scott W. at Cat when we got our first 2010 M8s and he said the same thing not required but reccomended. We are doing the 09 ritual to be sure they get a good run in before our customers get them.
OK??? When adding water to the slide rails, is it constant with a hose or every once in a while? I assume to much water would keep the engine cooled down!
I would use a water soap mixture like we do while drag racing to keep the rails cool and lubed
Mediumpimpn has it almost correct, except I would recommend you change #2to "DUCT TAPE throttle to handlebar".

A little extra oil in the gas (i never measure just a few glugs) then ride it like you would normally, just dont hold it in one possision for too long. Make a few stops and have a beer to let i cool down so you can get a few heat cycles on it. By the time your half way through the first tank you should be good to go.
