what is that noise in my fuel tank?

Removed my fuel tank, and removed all the old fuel out of it. While doing this I could hear something sliding around in the rear of the tank. Is this normal or did something come loose??

The fuel pickup is designed to be loose and move with the gas in the tank.

REmove the huge plastic nut on the pump flange assembly and carefully pull out the fuel pump/hose/pickup assembly.... see that everything is as it is supposed to be.

Also.. Just a FYI

When sitting on the sled.. the fuel tank can make noise too..

All it is is the Vent!

Check your in-tank fuel lines, mine were rotted away to the point where the metal filter inside the fuel tank had completely detached from the fuel pickup lines.

I replaced all the in-tank fuel lines, after flushing the fuel tank, and replaced the external filter (the one by the airbox) as the previous external filter, with 17 miles on it, was completely plugged. It still will not start and is at the dealer.

They said they have seen a couple incidents of rotted fuel line like this on 08s.

Gotta love the new fuel these days.

Thanks for the info guys. When i emptied my tank through a filter, the filter was very clean. I checked the lines, and all is good.

ya,.... wait till there is 20 % is Ethanol in the gas..

It going to get worse!!
