What is a Good Multimeter?

Am going to check the TPS on my 2017 Pro and I am wondering what is a good multimeter to purchase? I have done this on my last sled but borrowed the tool. Figure if I am going to ride Polaris I should buy my own. Don't need a professional grade tool, just one that is accurate and works well. Thanks for any help.

It may be handy to have an analog meter too to watch any odd fluctuations in the full range of TPS readings. This can help you find flat spots in the signal where a digital will struggle with this unless you specifically slow down and look for it.

i looked at the klein models at home depot, for $60 i thought it looked like a good unit for a person like me that maybe uses one 4 or 5 times a yr. and half of those times are just checking my vexilar batt

The TPS is VERY VERY Sensitive just loosening or tightening the screws change the values greatly. Most value meters just aren’t sensitive enough to do this job right. I would put that $60 towards the fluke I listed above.

Check Ebay. Lots of electricians get a annual spending allowance for tools like these. So they don’t have anything to loose by throwing their one year old meter up for sale for a good price.

I just bought an even cheaper one, Mastech ms8268 on amazon for $27. good reviews and should be plenty for this since dealers don't even use a multimeter to set these. I'll borrow a meter from work to check accuracy and leave feedback, not sure what brand they have but should be good ones.

I have Fluke 77 and HP and they check each other out. I am retired Electrical engineer/tech person and IMO here the power supply is really important, if you are getting rid of a desktop computer or know someone that is, take the power supply out and plug it in and fine the ground and 5 volt output and use that as it is usually right on! I have a lab bench supply that I use. Just suggestions here!
