What goes in this empty hole on my 09 M8?

I took apart my 09 M8 motor this spring and sent the head and cylinders to SLP. When I received it back, I see there's an empty hole in my head (my wife tells me that sometimes too).

I suspect it's a mount hole for some type of clamp that holds the coolant return line from the head but, I can't find a picture in the manual that shows me what it's supposed to look like. I also can't find any hardware that doesn't have a home.

Could someone please post a picture of what this hole looks like when it's configured as it should be?

Not positive and i'm sure someone more knowledgeable then me will chime in but. On the 700s I know there was a threaded hole top center of the head and it was for attaching to for removal and possibly install at the factory to in all the times I've had one out I never used it. I haven't looked to see on my 09M8 but i'm guessing its the same thing.

I'm pretty sure the hole wasn't empty when I sent the head to SLP but, I can't swear to it.

Bottom line, do I need to even mess with it?

Lee, just put an RKT head on an M1000 a couple hours ago and saw that exact same hole in the stock one. It was empty too! Not sure what it is for, but it is normal.

Mine looks like it had some sort of plate bolted down to the head by the mark left on the head.

Thank you for the help. I have always hated it when I have extra parts, or in this case, not enough parts left over. It's especially intimidatiing when it's a missing part from the engine.

it is used to set the motor out it can also be used to keep wires for nad on electronics it is how the head is built
