What fuel to run in 09 M8

I'm sure there is other topics about this but i'm wondering whats the best fuel to run in my 09 m8? I usually run 90 octane but it may have up to 10% ethenol. Others I ride with run premiem " off road" fuel from a local gas station. But it has red dye in it. Whats the best stuff? Thanks!

I think the manual even says that it is designed to run on any 87 octane fuel...even ethanol or oxygenated. (going off memory here)

ok, I usually run 90 octane( thats the regular at the station I fill at) But my big question was the ethanol would hurt anything. I ran that fuel all last season with no issues but some one told me this season that ethanol was horrible for sleds, By buddy has an assault and the mechanic said No ethanol was allowed in his sled.....

I would double check the owners manual. I'm not sure if there is a fuel made that will allow a Polaris 800 to make it through a season! ;)

Manual reads,

"Recommended Gasoline (EFI Models)"

"The recommended gasoline to use in these snowmobiles is 87 octane regular unleaded"

"NOTE; On the 2-stroke EFI engine models for optimum performance, do not exceed the recommended 87 octane gasoline. Using a higher octane gasoline will not increase overall performance."

"In many areas oxygenates (either ethanal or MTBE) are added to the gasoline. Oxygenated gasolines containing up to 10% ethanol or up to 15% MTBE are acceptable gasoline. Do not use gasolines containing methanol."

"CAUTION Do not use white gas or gasoline containing methanol. Only Arctic Cat approved gasoline additives should be used"

Stick to 87 octane like everyone says. Only the 2010 M8 requires 91. And it's always best to avoid ethanol if possible. Ethanol lowers one half of the octane rating method. You still get the total averaged octane rating in the R+M/2 method, but octane lowers one of the ratings, so the other has to be higher than normal. The fuel doesn't burn like normal gasoline, and none of these engines (especially Polaris) like it.

It's getting trickier to avoid ethanol. I see Chevron has "may contain up to 10% ethanol" stickers on their pumps now.

I wonder if a good thread here would a list of fuel suppliers to watch out for. In each of the riding area's section of the forum, it would probably be good to list where the good gas can be bought for people that are traveling.

Good idea. If you pass through idaho falls, both Gas N Grub sinclair stations keep their 91 octane premium ethanol-free. Owner is a sledder.

I ran the " may contain %10 ethanol" all last year and it was fine, all my buddies are running the dyed premium now but I dont trust it. The gas station that I fill up at is so convenient I pass it when I go riding. all the other stations are out of the way
